Usually, students, who reside in Uttarakhand, take admission here because of the college criteria that are there are 85% seats for Uttarakhand students. In our college that is a college of technology, which offers B.Tech program, the number of boys exceeds the number of girls. In our batch, we had double the amount of boys than girls. Overall, it is a very fun experience to stay in Pantnagar, you get a pure glimpse of what living in Uttarakhand is like. Everywhere is so green and fresh. I get to learn whatever I wanted on this campus, there was hardly anything that I didn’t learn which I don’t want to.

I gave my JEE exam in 2014, and I got around all India rank 50 thousand. I joined the college of technology in Pantnagar here with the help of UTU counseling. I got Electronics and communication engineering in the first round, and I was satisfied with that. I did not apply for spot rounds, as I was confident about my branch. Also, I have heard before that it is a good branch. When I entered here back in 2014, I was amazed by the professor. Their teaching style was good, very few days our class would feel boring, rest it was a good feeling to be in the class of such professors. I didn’t find college exams to be very tough, because a majority of the questions directly come from whatever professors teach us in class. I studied around 6 subjects every semester for 8 semesters. I interned in a small company also. Later during placements, ECE helped crack one of the jobs at a reputed company, which I didn’t take as I went for M.Tech.

In my branch, I remember there were 12-15 professors teaching us round the 4 years. Also, there were sometimes, extra faculty was called in special classes to teach few important topics, which were very exciting. In our first year itself, every professor even those whose subjects come after many semesters gave us their introduction. And it was unbelievable that the majority of the professors have been top-level personalities in their respective domains. During my first year, I didn’t have any problem understanding any subject or any professor, but I faced some difficulties in few subjects. To which professors asked me to join them in extra classes which would help me.

After 4 years of fun, finally, everyone studying in final year faced this, the pressure of placements. I was very confused about this, I was confused about whether to sit on placements or go for higher studies. I gave my GATE exam in my final year; I got decent marks and decided to go for M.Tech. Although by that time I also sat for placement round. Our passing out the year was 2018, at that time the average placement went to 4-5 LPA. A good percentage of students were placed in good companies.

Students those who live in Pantnagar city itself, usually don’t opt for hostel facility, rest everyone takes hostels, as the hostels are very affordable. Also, every one of our batches had made an enormous amount of memories in hostels. Boys hostels were amazing, you get to play basketball, football, table tennis, volleyball, and badminton inside the hostel premise. Also, boy’s hostels, especially our college’s hostel were very near to the stadium, which provided great convenience while we go to play every evening.

During our 4 years' stay here, we were allotted 4 different hostels every year. In our first year, I shared my room with two other mates, while in my second year one room is shared by two of us. The room was spacious enough for two. In our third and fourth years, we were given separate rooms. You could not expect very much from food quality, it was fine for every hostel. Variety was also moderate because breakfast usually remained the same every day, aloo ka paratha, egg, butter, and milk. Mostly.

The College campus is very big, you can roam there every day without getting bored. There are good places to hang out like there are numerous parks. Most of the evening is usually spent on stadiums, but I had still visited most of the other places regularly. Restaurants are located in markets, there are two-three markets in Pantnagar, which are also good place to hang out.

When I entered I was nervous, but soon I got along and had an amazing stay here. Every year I saw around 6 national-level fests, which was an amazing experience. Each fest is at least lasts for two nights. I participated in our college fest, and from there I have learned so much. There are very few restrictions in the campus, you can visit anywhere you want. Also, we enjoyed very much during fresher’s party and the farewell, those two and all the other events became memorable.
