IIT Kanpur, a dream college for many engineering aspirants across India. I feel privileged to have spent the crucial learning phase of my life over here. Spending my early adult age here I made numerous memories that I will cherish forever. Apart from the campus life, the education provided here is top-notch. You would never be disappointed by the faculty in terms of education. The college not only focuses on making its students learn the concept but the main aim is to have a better understanding of the subject. Practical knowledge is the key element in engineering which is provided throughout and in the best possible way. IIT Kanpur is among the top 100 universities in the world. The institute was established in the year 1959 under the technical assistance of the Kanpur-Indo American program (KIAP). For admission into IIT for B.Tech, first you have to clear Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE- MAIN) and then Joint Entrance Examination – ADVANCE (JEE- ADVANCE). These exams are conducted by CBSE and IIT’s on all Indian levels respectively.

Talking about IIT Kanpur, the institute offers a variety of courses in the non-medical stream. The institute offers many B.Tech specialization courses such as computer science, aerospace engineering, mechanical, electrical, and many more. It also offers courses like bachelor of science (B.S.), master of science (M.Sc.), master of technology (M.Tech), master of business administration (MBA), and more. I was a B.Tech student at IIT Kanpur. The main eligibility criteria for admission into the institute for B.Tech is that the candidate must have passed 10 + 2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 75% marks (65% in case of SC/ ST) and they must have cleared JEE - ADVANCE exam. The researchers at IIT Kanpur do high-level research mostly on the forefront in its area. There is diversity in the research projects undertaken by the institute.

The faculty members at IIT Kanpur are highly trained, qualified, and experienced. Someone who wants to study the teachers here is one of the best in business. The teachers are quite helpful; clearing doubts would never have been this easy for you as it is here. The institute conducts quizzes and assignments regularly to check students' understanding of the subject. IIT Kanpur has a flexible course curriculum thus, giving opportunities to choose subjects outside their stream according to their interest. The course curriculum is relevant, making the student industry-ready. With all the practical sessions the students learn better.

Most famous for its placements, students who study well get campus placement only. Around 90% of students get placed in IT Companies. On average, the average salary package is around Rs. 15 - 20 lakh per annum and the highest package increases every year. In 2021, the highest international package offered was Rs. 2.8 crore per annum and the highest domestic package was Rs. 1.2 crore per annum. The top companies visiting the campus are Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, Intel, Uber, Tiger Analytics, and Microsoft, etc. Thus, overall placement cell is very good with so many companies recruiting students from the campus, the students have the best of the best if they put in efforts.

Many students who join courses in IIT Kanpur tend to live there, irrespective of being a domestic resident or international resident. The hostel rooms of IIT Kanpur are quite spacious, even when sharing a room in the first and second year you don’t have to worry about the space. There are a total of 10 boys’ hostels and 2 girls’ hostels along with a girl’s residence tower. The hostel provides sports facilities like a basketball court, volleyball court, table tennis court, and badminton court. The hostel provides 22 hours of food facility from well-known food chains and hostel campuses. The rooms are equipped with all the necessary furniture. The annual hostel fee is around Rs.1,25,000 for general category students and around Rs. 25,000 for SC / ST.

IIT Kanpur is a big and spacious institute spread over an area of 430 hectares. The infrastructure and campus of the institute are very beautiful with a lot of facilities. The institute has air-conditioned libraries and laboratories, good Wi-Fi speed, clean campus, spacious hostel rooms, good canteen food, digitalized classrooms, sports area, and common recreational rooms that have T.V., computers and various magazines with newspaper. You will thoroughly enjoy your campus life here. One would never get a chance to say that he/she did have a beautiful life on the campus. There are three fests first is Antaragni, the cultural fest, the second is Techkriti the technical fest, and the last is Udghosh the sports fest. These fests are organized every year which are the cherry on the cake in the beautiful campus. There are also many clubs for students for their overall development like dance club, drama club, music club, English club and many more. Workshops and seminars are conducted very frequently. In all, someone who experiences college life here will cherish it for the rest of their lives. It is an experience worth it.
