Bhopal has many good institutes like LNCT University, IES College of Technology, MANIT Bhopal, etc. I don’t know why I chose this college, but honestly, it wasn’t my fault. I was trapped as the people from the admin department were so polite to me and promised a hell lot of things. The problem started with my HSC and entrance marks, as both were below the required numbers to take admission to a reputed college. Technocrats Group of institutions holds a very good name and that is why I visited TIT and got fooled. You will see posters of TIT all over the state and nearby states too. Many students from Jharkhand too got fooled this way as they called up many students from Jharkhand, promising them many free things. I would therefore repeat it as many times I can that please don’t get fooled by free service or huge posters they have placed everywhere for advertisements.

The first year was normal, while from the second year, we were asked to pay an additional fee of INR 15k in the name of campus training. I was made to sit among 300 students and learn the same things repeatedly. We will be given question banks before exams, and probably all the questions will come from them. If I tell you the reality, the harsh reality is that I didn’t even learn a single engineering chapter in four years. I once even had to skip a practical exam, and when the result came, I saw that I got 8 out of 10. Just see the grading system that they follow. Grades earned from TIT will lead you nowhere, and you will be left wandering jobless after attaining the degree.

I don’t know what was the reason for their existence as they were good for nothing. They came and read the books and went through the slides without even explaining the need for that. This is how, it went on for four years, and almost 80% of the students also kept clearing the exams. The parents were, the students were happy with the results. At the back of our minds though we knew that this is not taking us forward, we had no choice but to say yes on yes to all what faculty said. This is the condition of the faculty at TIT.

In advertisements they mention that over 100 companies come for placements. They probably added an extra zero to it because just 10 companies came out of which half were fake as they offered the call centre jobs in Gurgaon and NCR. When I argued, the answer that I got was that all the people working in call centers are engineers. If this is the case, why so many students in India do engineering is my only question. Why don’t we just have few premier institutes for engineering that guarantees job. What’s the point in having these many engineering colleges that will give students degrees for namesake?

There are some hostel buildings both for boys and girls. The hostels were good-looking which anyways the entire campus is. The advertisement of TIT is done on a large scale, and that is why students not just from Madhya Pradesh but nearby states too come and join this college. The hostel was necessary as one will see the hostel remains full throughout. There are many other options as well in Bhopal, but since hostels are inside the premises, it gives enough leverage for students to manage their time. Hostels were good looking, and the facilities were alright.

If one is happy with a clean and green college, then TIT has got that for you. The college is big, and so are the facilities at the college. Starting with the library it was larger than life as it was a divided in two floors. There was also a reading area for students besides that where no students were seen. For refreshment, there was a nice cafeteria in the middle of the college. It was like a proper restaurant that served many food options from Thali to Chinese dishes. There’s a spacious area behind the admin building which was used as a playground. There was no grass on it, and therefore I avoided playing as I am injury prone. There’s indoor sports room as well but hostellers use it as anytime a day scholar go, the hosteller would have already occupied the area. Infrastructure wise, the college gets 9 on 10.

After school, I thought schools were over, and I was off to college. College means wearing a civil dress and flaunting fashion but at TIT, forget that. You have to wear a uniform, and color of that uniform was so bad that I always carried an extra pair of T-shirt and shirts and left the campus wearing those. Events were there for fun as the college had nothing to do with it. They would get involved only when they called their business friends. The college is run by a very powerful group and chairman of various groups like PayTM to Jindal, all have come to college for guest lectures.
