IIT Roorkee is one of the top-ranked IITs in India. I will write about the experiences that I have had at IIT Roorkee. IIT provides its students with international opportunities. Not for jobs but for internships too. The Institute is also one of the oldest technical Institutes in India. Many students of IIT Roorkee are serving today in International Organizations. The list of decorated alumni is so long that it will take ages to discuss them. I have had a great time over there as apart from academics, IIT Roorkee was the place where I learned to watch TV series. You may be wondering whether it is even possible that IIT students have that much time to watch TV series. Well, I used to attend the lectures and study a week before the exams and still had no backlogs in any semesters. Yes, the dropout ratio is high because you will always be under pressure to perform at IITs. The faculties, management and more than them the pressure will be of family and relatives. Thus, don't let any pressure be applied to you, to ensure that you have a good time.

The classes were so long because they started at 9 am and continued until 1 pm. After that, we used to have an hour break, and again the classes restarted at 2 pm and ended at 6 pm. On days, we have spent time at labs till 8 pm. Once we were done with the classes, all we were left with was to chill at the great campus of IIT Roorkee. There were many sporting facilities at the campus. And our professors used to encourage us to play sports to remain in the best state of mind. Every year, we were given two projects to be completed. One solo and one group project. So, academics were a niche at IIT Roorkee.

Our college professors were experienced and well educated. The HRD ministry appoints professors here. So the quality is something that one can imagine. Yes, some frustrated ones made our lives hell. They gave us assignments that were out of the syllabus. At least I couldn't dare not to do them, because the consequences were such that they take minutes to fail a student. So, one has to be varied, and then it's all chill at the campus.

I was in the EEE branch, and placements of EEE were among the best as after CSE, it was our branch that had the best placements. Average placements of EEE was 12 lakhs. And placements of students who had cleared all their backlogs, till 6th semester. Were eligible to appear for the interviews. Along with the interview our skills on applied mathematics and IQ were tested through a test. So, IITR is a bang of bucks for students, who remain eligible for placements. Companies like Havells, One Plus, Wipro, LG, MI, and Sony were the top recruiters. Before placements, some students were provided internships. At these company's workshops in Japan, China, or Germany.

Hostels were named 'Bhawans' here because some of them were like Bhawans only. Luckily many hostels have been constructed now named as Rajiv, and Radhakrishna Bhawans. These are tall towers with 12 rooms on each floor. The old hostels like Ganga Bhawan, Rajendra Bhawan, and others were small. And the rooms were pathetic. There were 4-5 girls hostels, and one good thing about IITR is that boys and girls can go to each other's hostels till 11 pm. Every Bhawan on the campus had canteens, washing rooms, common rooms, a library, and a gym. Shared facilities include badminton and volleyball courts.

The college is in the middle of the city and to reach here it takes 15 minutes from the station. The campus area is 365 acres. And what's inside is some old architecture combined with modern facilities. Like incubation centers, digital libraries, smart classrooms, and advanced computer labs. There were a couple of LHCs. A huge convocation hall other than departmental buildings. The central library, known as 'MGCL Library', is one of the oldest and biggest libraries in India. There are as many as three stadiums inside the campus. The newly constructed stadium is 'ABN Ground'. And the other two are Major 'Dhyan Chand Stadium', and 'LBS Stadium'. For making sure that students have their space to chill out. The campus has built a new building known as the 'Student Activity Center Building'. The college is located near many tourist places. Like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, and Mussoorie.

Campus life is enjoyable and chilling. IIT Roorkee provides you Wi-Fi with the highest internet speed among all the IITs. For the first month, the student has to stay inside the Hostel. But once the month passes, we have all the right to use every facility provided at the campus. So, it was easy to have a night out at this beautiful campus with friends. The annual fest Thomso is organized at the stroke of winter in November. Almost 100+ college students participate in IIT-Roorkee's annual fest.
