New Law College LLB Review By Ankita Patil

New Law College is a reputed college of Law in Mumbai, it is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and has been recognized by UGC. The admission process is relatively simple, though I had to spend a couple of hours in the beginning. But the college staff paced up the process and helped us seek admission in less time. The college management is good, they have systematic classes lined up, and they ensure that they complete the curriculum within timeline. I didn’t know which college to choose, but my friends and cousins suggested me to join New Law College because it is excellent for education. The management also has activities apart from classroom sessions for overall personality development of the students.

I joined LL.B. course as it is a good supplementary degree along with C.S. course. I had completed my B.Com when I took admission for the LL.B. The eligibility for this course was to be a graduate in any stream. This course is of three years. Each year has two semesters. We had different subjects in each semester, and some subjects were taken to the advanced level in next semester or year. I studied varied number of laws such as Administrative Law, Labour Laws, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, and others. In some semesters, we had an option to choose subjects of our choice. I had chosen Tax Laws in my second year and it was a great experience. The faculties taught us nicely with case laws and notes for each semester.

The faculty or the teaching staff in New Law College is excellent, extensively experienced and are well-versed in the given subjects. They teach with dedication and commitment to all the students. They are punctual and strict when it comes to attending lectures, and hence, we were forced to attend each lecture. They explain each concept and case clearly to all the students. In case of any doubts raised by us, they resolve it immediately and provide further clarification. They also provide us with notes which we can write down during the lecture. If we have any issues in the spellings or different concepts, they even use the blackboard for reference. Our college has a systemic way of teaching and I am very proud of it.

When it comes to placement, then New Law College is one of the best educational institutions. They have a Placement Cell through which they inform the students about the jobs. The best thing is that companies and law firms want students of New Law College. Hence, a student can easily find a job reference from the Placement Cell. If it is not possible for you to approach the Placement Cell within college hours, you can surely check the notice board from time to time. The notice board contains all kinds of job openings and vacancies in law firms, LPOs, companies, and other sectors. You can even find internship opportunities here. I got my first internship through the Placement Cell and it was informative and memorable.

There is no proper hostel attached to New Law College. But since New Law College is in the same building as in D.G. Ruparel, you can find a hostel in the premises but it is not available for Law students. But since it is a college area, you can find ample of hostels. There are student hostels where you can find reasonable stay options along with tiffin services. There are also plenty of food joints where you can find several meal options at reasonable prices. The college canteen is clean, hygienic, reasonable and has delicious dishes. If you are not comfortable with the hostel option, you can find PGs for students in the nearby area but it could cost you a bit more as compared to the former.

New Law College is situation in Matunga (Near Dadar, Mumbai), in the premises of the eminent D. G. Ruparel College. So, the campus is large and extensive. You can find a canteen, a well-equipped library, green lawns, separate buildings for different streams, and an administrative department in the college premises. The buildings are surrounded by beautiful green trees with lovely flowers, and it creates an excellent atmosphere for the students. It is a peaceful ambience, and one would love to study here. The classrooms are big and spacious, and the library is up-to-date. You can find assistance at each place, and there will be no difficulties for a new student. The security of the college is stringent, and so, you will not find any student without a valid Identity Card inside the premises.

The campus life of New Law College is excellent. I never felt bored or alone in the college. I made good friends and we participated in many activities. We had Law-related activities such as Moot Court, Elocution and Debate competition, Essay competitions. Even the faculties helped us to prepare for the same. Similarly, we also had cultural activities like dance competition, annual gatherings, and sports-related activities. So, each student has something to contribute in the campus life. I enjoyed it, had fun and will always remember those wonderful days. The best thing is you grow as a student and as well as a person when you are in this place. I earned my confidence when I was in New Law College or else, I was a shy student before.
