Sardar Patel Education Campus MBA Review By Jay Shah

SPCAM is definitely the best B School in Gujarat. Vallabh Vidhyanagar is the educational hub of Gujarat and many students from nearby states such as MP, and Rajasthan also come and study in various colleges that this small town has. The SPCAM-MBA institute admissions are purely based on merit as GCAT is compulsory and the number of students that the college offers are also less. The batch of MBA consisted of 60 students each in 3 sections. The less number of students means more attention and that is what is required in MBA. After making my way at SPCAM I was sure that greater things in life will be achieved with ease as the college made us work like a Trojan for 2 years.

For the first time in my life I saw smart classrooms and what it feels like studying in a smart classroom was an enjoyable experience. The classrooms are stocked with audiovisual equipment’s and multimedia features for effective learning. Not just the classrooms but the entire infrastructure of the classroom is designed in a way that it enhances maximum student and teacher interaction. Other architectural delight that SPCAM campus offers is its air-conditioned seminar hall and conference room. The facilities made the learning simple for the course of two years and the students turned out to be a fun session.

For all these modern facilities, modern teachers are also required as the old cliché is not meant for if you have an institute like this. Many faculty members were educated were top-most foreign Universities who understand the concept of smart studies were recruited to take care of us. The teaching methods were innovative and always had a fun element added to them. The long classes would have been hard to go by if the faculty members were not supportive. If maximum students made the same noise that they are feeling nostalgic and need a break, the faculty members gave us that leverage. The faculty members were co-operative and were attention seekers in a good way. If we don’t approached them directly they came to us and checked upon that are we actually doing well or not. This is how the faculty members operated at SPCAM.

We were ready right from the word go and it is hard to digest that the students with same profiles are my seniors just because they have passed out from bigger schools than us hurt at times. College has done well but the corporate needs to look at the quality that the student of SPCAM possesses rather than chasing names. Just like various other B-Schools our institute too many big and small corporate from various sectors came and we were asked to sit for placements in the options available. I chose banks as that is where I felt like I can give the maximum output. In the first round itself I impressed the HR people of an X bank. The package was on the expected lines and talking about the entire scenario most of us got placed to their desired destinations. The institute has done a great job in inviting bids as due to remote location many corporate houses avoid coming to Vidhya Nagar.

The MBA has its own hostel building. There are 3 hostels dedicated for MBA students. 2 Boys and 1 Girls hostel are in pursuit. The hostel rooms never let me miss my home as I had my own cupboard, locker, and a study table. The hostel was fully Wi-Fi and there was a large study room inside the hostel which was meant for group studies. RO water facility, geezers, attached bathrooms, and a common TV rooms were some of the facilities that were available. Inside the hostel building there were 3-4 guest rooms and if someone’s parents have come they were allowed to stay in the guest room. I wanted my parents to come and stay there as those rooms were similar to our rooms and for parents who want to experience a one-day hostel life this is possible only at SPCAM. The mess of the hostel gave us nutritious food that kept us going the whole time. The mess served us breakfast, lunch and dinners. Above all the facilities and gestures it was the time spent in hostel that made my life a memorable one.

Classrooms are smart and the labs are equipped. The digital library and separate reading rooms were the highlight of the campus. The college campus is huge and they have done the best thing by accommodating a sports ground. Not just outdoor but indoor games are also available at the campus. Besides the sports field the college also used to organize meditation and yoga classes in the ground so that students can live a healthy life. Many students came from Baroda and therefore 3 buses were designated for the students coming from Baroda. Every day the buses used to pick students from Baroda and drop them back. Since the hostel is small they did the right thing so that at least nearby students don’t take the option of staying in the hostel. The canteen is also modern and serves mostly the English snacks and beverages. The infrastructure of the college is up to mark and they are changing with every newbie that comes in the market.

I stayed in the hostel for the first time and glad that I got this opportunity. The time spent at the college passed so quickly that it is almost impossible for me to recollect all the beautiful moments that I spent at the college. I had a great time at SPCAM and for students who fail to get admissions at Top B-schools can look at this option.
