Institute of Management Studies MBA Review By Prachi Dubey

When we talk about the options of management studies in the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh Indore, then the list begins with the Indian Institute of Management, Indore and then goes on and on. My scores in the CAT examinations were not good enough to get admission in IIM Indore so I had decided to join IMS, DAVV Indore. This college was established in 1969 and it is one of the oldest management institutes of Indore. IMS offers MBA in six different streams and the admission is done on the basis of CMAT scorecards. Along with the traditional MBA, the integrated MBA program of five years is also available here.

As I have a keen interest in financial administration so I decided to pursue; MBA in financial administration after completing my graduation. The selection criteria in the IMS DAVV is quite fair and the enrollment is done on the basis of the performance of the student in the entrance test conducted by the University. After that university-level counseling is conducted and those students who managed to get more than the cut off marks decided by the institute are eligible to get admission. My experience in the IMS was quite thrilling and I found myself fortunate to get the opportunity to learn the basics of Management from the expert faculties.

When it comes to faculties IMS DAVV is world-class. I think over 200 faculties were there in the management section who are highly experienced and most of them were NEET qualified; having teaching experience of more than 10 years. Sometimes I feel quite fortunate that I have learnt the basics of management from some leading professors of the Institute. The contribution of teachers in one’s life is quite important and I am not an exception. I think those two years are vital from my career point of view as well and act as the pavement for my current position in the corporate world.

IMS DAVV has a great reputation among the corporate and due to this reason every year, several companies visit the campus for placement. Due to strong collaborations and deep penetration in the corporate world, students of IMS get great opportunities in the different private banks, corporate houses, manufacturing units and industries situated in Pitampur (a nearby industrial city). I think great placement opportunities are provided to the students. My overall scores were average still I managed to get a package of Rs. 5 lakh per annum in one of the reputed private companies of Indore due to the fame of IMS.

Hostel life is still a dream for me as I have my own house in Indore and never got the opportunity to stay in a hostel but my classmates and seniors shared many stories of their hostel life during the free time and sometimes it excites me too much. If we particularly talk about the IMS DAVV hostel then the ambience and the food quality is much better as compared to other college hostels. It maintains a high standard in the hospitality and academic sections and due to this reason, students from different cities of MP and other neighboring states is quite eager to take admission here.

Whenever I think about the IMS the image of a campus full of students of different departments hijacks my mind. The Indore management institute is situated in the Takshila campus of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya which occupies more than 2 acres of land. The classrooms are constructed in the old colonial style with a capacity of more than 200 students in each room. The big auditoriums, libraries, laboratories and our favorite hangout place i.e. canteen still captivates my mind with endless sweet memories of college days. In short the infrastructure of IMS is just amazing though it is a bit old; I like it too much.

The sweet memories of 2 years spent in IMS are still fresh and alive in my mind. The Journey begins with the freshers’ party, followed by different cultural events organised by the institute, the annual day celebration, Holi celebration, Diwali celebration, and the convocation ceremony. These are some of the memorable days of my college life. Along with cultural events different social events and fests were also organised to promote the local vendors and their products. In short the campus life in the Institute of Management Studies DAVV is awesome and full of new experiences everyday and I had enjoyed it completely.
