T John Institute of Technology is affiliated with Bangalore University and NAAC has accredited the college with a grade ‘A’ certificate. Academic wise the college is really good. The teaching is extraordinary and students are chosen purely on merit. Backlog students not getting placement is fine but even the students who passed with good grades find it difficult to find on-campus jobs. Not just for IT or CS branch but all the branches of the college are suffering the placement issues. The other drawback is its infrastructure as the parking space is not sufficient and also there’s hardly any place to roam inside the campus. TJIT Bangalore also is very strict and every year in the name of fine there’s fine imposed on every damn thing. There’s no point in complaining to the management as they are rude. One thing that I can say is that you can grow academically at T John Institute of Technology Bangalore but the bigger picture is missing.

T John Engineering College Bangalore is affiliated with Bangalore University which is one of the best universities across the country for technical studies. I thought of choosing some private university but since I got admission to Bangalore University affiliated college, I took admission here. I will not say it was a mistake but apart from following the strict protocols in completing the curriculum and imparting good education the college has nothing to offer. There are not many events and we had to visit other colleges to see the technical fest as there was not a single such fest organized at T John. The college which was once among the top colleges of Bangalore University is now out of the top 5 because they have denied changing with time.

Overall faculty were ok because in terms of experience and degrees they had everything. No biased feeling for students as they treated everyone the same. However, it was beyond classrooms that hurt me the most. You dare if you are left with any doubts and ask them after the class is over. The faculty gave us 5-10 minutes after the completion of the chapter and that was enough for 60 students to ask them whatever doubts they had. The seniors were rather helpful in this regard as the faculty member's duty was only till the classrooms.

Free training was provided to make sure that the college can have numbers to present. All in vain as T John Institute of Technology Placements ratio was just 40-50% and forget about the students who had backlogs by the end of the 6th semester. They were treated like criminals as they were not even allowed to come to the college while placement was on. Companies like Siemens, Oracle, Persistent, Cognizant have come but with a limited vacancy. One good thing that happened was that we were immediately made known whether we have made it or missed it. There was no compulsion on trying for a particular company as we could try our hands at as many companies we wanted. 20+ companies arrived but not with huge demand or conviction and that is why most of the students were left stranded for placements.

There are 3 girls and 2 boys hostels. For boys, there’s a campus hostel and the other one is the Priya Darshi hostel which had just 20 rooms. During my sophomore year, I stayed at Priya Darshi hostel but from 2nd year onwards we were shifted to Campus Hostel. All the rooms allotted were either on a triple or 4 sharing basis. The campus hostel also had some AC rooms. The fees for Non Ac rooms was 90k while for AC rooms it was 120k. The hostel was small as the boy's hostel including both the hostel had the capacity of accommodating 150 students. The food was entire Kannada menu and for students like us who came from other states, it took a long while before we could adapt that food.

There are 7 colleges of T. John Group Institutions on the same campus. The campus was small as the strength of the college was quite high and gathering all the students at one place was never possible. The college boundary had jungle on the other side and cricket ground which was smaller than my building compound would see balls flying in the jungle at least 10 times in a single match. There are 2 canteens and they were also quite average. The library resource center was huge and also well managed. Apart from cricket, there is also an indoor badminton court and an outdoor tennis court. The buildings are well maintained as the institute spent hard on maintaining the labs and college buildings.

Every department had their fest and all of them combined and made the annual fest. Each college could give a maximum of 2 entries from their stream and 7 branches of engineering getting 2 events was some kind of a joke. There was some internal politics and because of which outsiders never got the chance to participate in any of the fests. Never mind though as most of the dance and skit was performed in the local language. They were way beyond my head anyways. There’s no point choosing this college as it will hardly help you with placement or will provide an opportunity with extracurricular activity.
