RIE Bhubaneswar: Academics and Extracurriculars in Campus Life

I feel very proud being a student of Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar. My experience has been really good so far. I have learnt many things from here. The institute provides so many facilities. Its overall curriculum is managed in such a way that a student, from not knowing anything, will came to know and learn so many things. If anyone wants to pursue B.Ed or B.Sc.B.Ed then this institute will be the best option as per my experience. It provides good academics, hostel facilities, placement, etc.

The institute provides a variety of specialised courses such as 4 years of integrated B.Sc.B.Ed, 4 years of integrated B.A.B.Ed, 2 years of B.Ed, 2 years of M.Ed, and 5 years of PhD course. For B.Sc.B.Ed (Physical Science), students must have completed their 12th grade with subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Math. For B.Sc.B.Ed (Biological Science), students must have cleared their 12th grade with subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB). For B.A.B.Ed, students must have cleared their 12th grade from any of stream (Humanities, Science or Commerce). For B.Ed and M.Ed, students must have completed their 12th grade from Science or Humanities. All the students must have aggregate marks of 55% in class 12th exam. The main motive for enrolling in this institute is the quality of education, specialised programs, placement and good opportunities for research.

The faculty members at Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar are well qualified and specialised for various departments. Prof. Prakash Chandra Agarwal, who is the principal of this institution as well as professor of Physics, is known for his advance experience in academics. His communication and teaching skills are very good. Prof. S.K. Dash, who has multiple roles like H.O.D, Head of DESM, Head of Cultural Department and professor of Physics, is very well maintained, disciplined and experienced teacher. He guides and teaches us in a very systematic and friendly manner. Dr. Sourabh Kapoor teaches us Mathematics, making sure that our doubts are all cleared. He relates Mathematics with our day to day practical life.

Yes, the institute has a very good placement record. A variety of reputed and recognised school participate in campus recruitment process. About 80% to 100% students get placement with average salary ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000 per month. Overall, the institute is a combination of good education quality and a strong placement, making it a good choice for students.

The institute provides good residential facilities including hostel facilities for boys & girls, professors, and other staff. It also provides medical facilities and other amenities. My hostel’s name is Homibhabha hostel (boys’ hostel). Its infrastructure is well structured comprising of a big mess, a hostel library, Badminton court, garden, TV halls, music system, Aqua Guard, and sports & games equipment. There are also guards / caretakers to ensure security.

It has very good and modern academic blocks with well equipped laboratories and classroom. The academic block has a good and well stocked library with wide range of books. A biometric attendance system is attached to many places of buildings for professors and students both. Institute also provides various amenities for support and needs of students such as guest house, canteen, dispensary, playground, SBI Bank and a post office.

A variety of fests, cultural activities, sports and events, programs are also conducted here for a good experience of the students. Some of the programs include fresher’s party, teachers’ day celebration, etc.
