Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira B.A Review By Saugata Thunder

As a student of the Ramakrishna Mission branches from the beginning of my student life, I knew this college is not an exception. The discipline it provides throughout the day is life changing if followed by. The ambience and environment is calm and has serenity to it because of the prayers and worshipping of the idols. To have an altogether better experience excluded from the scattered life outside, I think this college is the choice for students who want this systematic life.

Regarding academics, Vidyamandira has well enough faculties. The English department is one of the best departments in our college. 5 extraordinary professors, daily evaluation and other curricular activities made the department fulfilled and pleasing to students. To enroll, students need to go through an entrance exam followed by an interview. However, if someone who wants to explore literature not in just academics or in books but through photography, films, drawing, poem etc.; this college is enough to satisfy that motif.

The faculty members here are well mannered and relationship between the professors and students are very deep indeed. Students tend to share their concerns privately with them and they handle those with utmost care. In terms of teaching, they are fluent and teach their part of expertise. With proper presentation and references, the professors delve deep into the topic and give out the information that is necessary. Overall, the professors are helpful to every student regarding the faculty, studies and personal problems too.

Yes we indeed have a placement cell for Industrial Chemistry. It promises placements after the graduation courses are over. Not only that, we have a separate office regarding placement where students could go and discuss with respected Maharaja assigned there.

The hostel is the main asset of our college. Our college is residential indeed. There are 5 hostel buildings which consist of almost 80 rooms in each. The room is big enough for 5 students to stay. The hostel life although could sound very interesting but it is hard enough to maintain. We wake up at 5am for morning prayer and then study till 9am. At 9:20 we've our lunch followed by college starting at 10am. We've our Tiffin at 4:30pm. Later at 6:00pm, we do our evening prayer and then sit to study again till 9:00pm. We have our dinner and sleep at 11pm. We have restrictions here regarding mobile phones as it distracts the ambience and a student's mind. So we have to submit mobile phones at night. We are given our phones at 7:00 pm each day. So, without any further distractions a student could study better. Apart from that, we have our kind of fun activities to spend time. To chat till night, to eat snacks, to sing or playing instruments; we enjoy our days with real joys which also strengthens the student's bond with each other.

The first thing from the main gate, the main college building could be seen standing. On its left and right there are chemistry and physics building. There are 2 more buildings for other departments. Students could study in any room they want. There is a ki-osk or a computer room in our college where many students could browse and study.

The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira has their own rituals and programs different from other colleges. We celebrate the freshers with "Bhartribaran" which makes the students to take an oath in front of fire saying that they will fulfill their duties as a student and grow as a human. Apart from that, we celebrate birthdays of Monks and worship God. So it is a fulfilling life.
