HI-Tech Institute of Engineering and Technology MBA Review By Shruti Anand

A shift from technical to management studies is never swift. I had to change a lot in terms of thinking and preparing for the exams. A lot of MBA colleges need good score at CAT, MAT, and various others. Hi-Tech or HIET, as it is how the college is referred to offers MBA program that doesn’t require much of an entrance score or go through PI rounds and all. The teachers are great and the campus life is beautiful with fests and fun and celebrations happening all year round. The faculty is very good and experienced with a stronghold on the subjects which allow us to ask queries and clear our concepts. The non-curriculum activities take place in the college campus which keeps us super lively and happy. We enjoy each other's company and willingly participate in all of the activities to make sure we create memories along the way while we are literally muscling our way to finish the degree.

MBA means case study and that is what we did all 4 semesters. First, we have to go through the long syllabus and then come home and solve the case studies was too tiring. The teachers were really good but students had to complete maximum syllabus by own because it is too vast. Practicals were literally fun because even the professors would pull legs of students but all in good sense. Academically the college may not be that versed because it’s an engineering college after all. They were good with technical aspects of the subjects but equally terrible with the commercial part. No industrial training or much of the guest lectures thing which are quite common in management studies. Thus, if you want to have fun and have an MBA degree by your side then HIET is an option.

Our professors had plenty of experience behind their back and were carrying some extra baggage’s too because some of them were working and taking time out to take lectures. Thus, lectures were not always on time and that gave us extra time to chill and made our life fun at the college. The teaching methods were different and latest I would say. Faculty members were extremely supportive as they were there for help while they were present at the campus. This was understandable as everyone has life beyond the college campus and therefore, they never shared their numbers. The student-to-faculty ratio was appropriate as around 20 faculty for 120 students.

Under normal circumstances, MBA students recruiters will recruit some engineering students. It was exactly the opposite at HIET because the companies that came for engineering placements were further asked to take some of the MBA students from the college. The placement fair which is organized from July to August had nearly 100 companies visit the campus and offered the jobs to engineering students first and then with a littler pay cheque joined hands with the MBA students. Mostly it were IT companies but to a certain advantage, some banks came to the college and working in a bank after doing MBA is a dream. I got my dream fulfilled and more than college it was some of my friends hand who personally recommended my name. Hence, for all those who think that recommendations don’t work at this level, please don’t shy away to using your sources because after all it's India.

HIET Hostels were just adjacent to the main campus buildings. The hostel area was guarded well and there were 5 boys and 3 girls hostel buildings. The hostels were divided among juniors and seniors and each hostel had its own mess. The hostel campus had 2 separate libraries for girls and boys and each hostel building had common rooms for recreational activities. There’s a huge lawn at the campus and we can take chairs and sit on those lawns till as long as we wanted. The hostel campus had a general store, a canteen, and 2 tea/coffee vending machines.

The infrastructure is fantastic and I will begin with the classrooms. A personal bench for each student and are positioned in a way that no-one looks like back bencher in the classroom. The library had over 5000 case-studies to search from. The size of the campus is around 15 acres and it has everything from a sprawling green campus to hi-tech labs. The sporting facilities again were much better and it’s not that only boys have access over the playground but even girls were equal opportunities. The cafeteria was 2 floors basically ground and 1st. The only problem with the cafeteria was that it was small because taste wise it was outstanding.

Crossroad-the annual technical fest, chakra the change, gambade, Mr. and Mrs. at the fresher party, farewell party, Hi-Tech premier league, and many more events are organised ay HIET. For people who are seeking some fun in their life, I bet there’s no better college than HIET in that regard. The crowd is good as all the students that come here are for sure well-behaved and there was no misbehavior among the students. 24x7 security will make one feel highly secure inside the campus.
