Ramanujan College B.A Review By Rimsha Zainab Khan

Ramanujan College was established in 2010 and is an integral part of University of Delhi. It is a young and dynamic college rapidly gaining recognition in Delhi University's South campus. I kept this college in my priority list as it offers a variety of courses in the domain of science, management and humanities. This variety of courses gives students exposure and opportunity to blend together with dynamic crowd. The college has secured a position in top 10 colleges of Delhi NCR. Initially, Ramanujan College used to be known as Deshbandhu Evening College, somewhere still shadowed but actively working towards forging its own identity by shedding the old one. My overall experience till now is good. The college has given me exposure and experience through curriculum and societies. I'm part of many societies and to be honest college's societies has helped me to enhance my personality. If someone is looking for a good college in Delhi NCR, I would definitely recommend this.

This college offers Bachelors courses. To pursue bachelor program, one must have passed class 12th with minimum percentage. Next, student can enroll themselves in any undergraduate course by appearing in central university entrance test conducted by National Test Agency (NTA). My batch was the first one to enroll in university through central university entrance test, I appeared for entrance test after my board exams and the entrance syllabus is almost based on class 12th. The eligibility subject varies as per the course; it is advisable to carefully check eligibility. Then, I got my CUET score. After receiving CUET score, I prepared priority list, choose the colleges which I wanted and set them according to my desire. Then, Delhi University allots colleges to the students through different rounds. For example, if you got college in first allocation round, you will have two options either accept or upgrade the college. Then you will be allotted a different college in second round or may remain the same as earlier. This process will be continued to several allocation rounds.

The overall faculty is well-qualified engrained with rich knowledge. The professors who teach me have done their Ph.D at least or pursuing. They come prepared with lecture with notes in an organised manner with rich content. Faculty teachers make sure to keep us focused on the lecture by engaging students and raising in-depth questions. There is something quite interesting about faculty teachers as some they are quite experienced, some about to retire and some are young as well; it really helps me to look things from different stages of life and to have a diverse perspective. Every teacher has different approach towards teaching which makes the process interesting.

Yes, Ramanujan College has a placement cell. It's quite active and always working to make sure that we have the best opportunities in our hands. Placement cell is quite active on Instagram page, a WhatsApp community as well. They always notify us with different types of internships and placement opportunity as well. It organise an annual job and Internship fair, brings best opportunities to the table for the students.

The college campus is not huge but well equipped with cricket ground, volleyball ground, air-conditioned library, canteen, café, drinking water facility, computer labs, Auditorium (ghalib), innovation Centre office, media cell, and medical room as well. The classrooms are equipped with projector to have virtual classes as well. The college still lacks in the number of concrete classrooms but have porta cabins. Porta cabins are not ideal for the extreme weather conditions. College has been working to resolve this issue and the construction work of concrete classrooms has begun. The canteen also lacks seating occupancy.

As the college offers diverse courses which brings different students with diverse academic background. This variation really helps to grow as a person with different perspectives. To make this experience better, there are many societies with different goals to work on and students are allowed whatever the society they want to join after completing requirements given by the society. Societies prepare the students to overcome challenges. The college has annual fest named "Josh" which chills the environment for the students and gives the opportunity to enhance experience by contributing to the management of fest organising team. I volunteered in my first year of college in management team of annual fest and it really helped to have in-depth knowledge of organisation and management. During fest, numbers of competitions are held open to all Delhi University's college and even other colleges; it gives exposure to meet students with diverse mindset. Other then annual fest, departmental fest is also held here. Speaker sessions of admirable person (speakers like Tanu Jain) and many more competitions are also conducted here. Every year, for a month we have sports competition as well. The college offers well round experience in diverse domain.
