Gujarat Arts and Science College B.Sc Review By Ashish

I took admission in Gujarat Arts and Science College in year 2023. As GASC (Gujarat Arts and Science College) was the biggest government college in Gujarat University and oldest college of Gujarat they have great infrastructure. This college is best for students who are more interested in sports activities because we have all sports grounds and it also has NCC (National Cadet Corps) and NSS (National Service Scheme). About academics, the college has experienced faculty members. Overall this college is best in every field.

I study B.Sc (Hons.) in Mathematics. It is a 4 year course due to the implementation of new education policy. This college provides all the B.Sc and M.Sc courses. For example B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Math, etc. This college provides the best education and guidance for your future. According to my experience if you attend daily lectures then this course is very easy and it also helps me in preparing for government exams. Now talking about admission process, they provide both online and offline admissions. For online admission you have to register on Gujarat University website and offline process is done in college itself. The eligibility criteria are different for different courses like for B.Sc it’s on 12th bases and for M.Sc it’s on graduation bases. Overall academic experience is good.

The faculty members are well experienced and have Ph.D degree. They are very much supportive and there is variety of teachers for one subject, like in my B.Sc (Math Hons.) we have 6 to 7 teachers for only math and they all are very skilled and knowledgeable. The classes are very interactive, you can ask doubts and they will personally clear your doubts. But there is a say that "no one is perfect" so small improvement is needed.

This college is not providing placements in recent years. Earlier, like before 2022 they were providing placements but after 2022 there is no placement.

GASC (Gujarat Arts and Science College) i.e. Gujarat College, don’t have any hostel or accommodation facilities. But there is a government hostel like Samras boy’s hostel, they provide free of cost living and food facilities but admission is based on 12th merit and they also have reservations for SC, ST, OBC and EWS.

As the oldest government college of Gujarat the infrastructure is old yet steady. There is library for students for self study. The classrooms are very big. There is a canteen for refreshments. There is a huge garden for students to enjoy with friends. There are well maintained sports grounds like cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, kabaddi, etc. And they also have indoor sports like table tennis, chess, carrom etc. There is also a gym in this college. Overall the infrastructure is the main attraction towards this college.

In (GASC) Gujarat Arts and Science College there are clubs like NCC and NSS. We celebrate festivals in college like Independence Day, Republic Day, Holi, Navratri, etc. Also events like traditional day and more are celebrated in the college. They also organise NCC camps, NSS camps, and some environment related activities like tree plantation and all.
