Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital MBBS Review By Pritisha Das

Hello readers, I'm currently a second year MBBS student at Hi-tech Medical College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Well my overall experience till now in this college has been a rollercoaster ride. From hating the college life in first year to accepting everything and learnings to match my pace has been a journey. As the college is few kilometers away from my house I knew about it. It has good reputation as a it also has a hospital in the city. So, I decided to get admission here. My journey through first year was average as I had few unrealistic expectations that I gained by watching Bollywood movies. God knows what I was expecting. Well my college experience till now has been completely different from my idea. The administration is really strict about the academics, attendance and what not. We do party and hang out. But you got to learn to maintain the balance between the two.

Well my college is the best semi government medical College in Disha. So, people who couldn't crack the high cut-off of getting into a Govt. Medical College due to few marks generally end up here. The admission process occurs under the OJEE counseling. You can learn more about it at ojee.nic.in. The admission takes place in 3 rounds and one spot admission process. One needs to submit the annual fees of one year in the OJEE office and collect your admission letter from there. You show that letter in the college and they take you in.

Well talking about faculties, the professors are really strict here. You might feel like being in school but it helps you grow academically. The Vice Principal of the college, Dr. Lisa Sarangi (H.O.D of dept of community medicine) is everyone’s friend. She's the one the friends you need in a Med. school. She's so friendly and strict at the same time. Overall the student teacher interaction is pretty cool here.

In Med. schools there in so placement procedure as you know. After finishing the course for 4 yrs, we're hired as an intern in a hospital for 1 year. The internship in my college is pretty good. It provides you a good base to learn and expose yourself to the practical aspects of medicine.

My college offers residential facilities. Its 1L P.A. for non AC rooms n 1.35L for AC rooms. Everyone is provided with triple sharing rooms with attached washrooms. Overall, its okay. I feel like the hostel infrastructure needs to improve. I won’t recommend Mess food. But there are cafes inside the campus.

In college the construction work never really stops. The academic blocks are pretty much in good structure. Our college has a good library. Hope it improvises its infrastructure in future.

The medical students study hard and party harder. That's completely true for my college. The annual fest of our college named PLEXUS is the festive time of the year. It offers everything from star nights to cultural events and all night DJ's. It's everything you could ask for. The cultural festivals like Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja, Holi, Diwali are also celebrated nicely.
