St Francis De Sales College B.A Review By Harshita Purohit

As a science student who wanted to go with Arts, choosing the right college within Nagpur wasn't easy. Because of COVID-19, my parents did not want me to relocate, so I decided to continue studying in Nagpur. After +2 results, I was all set to fill out the forms. I got acceptance from three colleges- Hislop College, Dr. Ambetkar College, and St Francis De Sales College ( SFS ). I did my 12th from Hislop, and I was unwilling to continue. I wanted a change. I had two options, and after researching and taking reviews from some past students, I decided to take admission in SFS Nagpur. I was skeptical because the college doesn't have a significant social media presence, but I was astonished when I contacted teachers. I got to see that teachers motivate students without being biased in studies and push them for their interested areas. As a science student, I will have to admit that professors here are very well versed with what they are doing and makes every subject easy to understand.

SFS Nagpur follows RTMNU's syllabus, formerly known as Nagpur University. I was not expecting a high-level syllabus like in DU, but when I joined the college, the university changed the syllabus, and I will have to admit that the syllabus is very efficient for students. SFS also provides many other degrees in the Science and Commerce field, but I can only tell you about the Arts faculty. Every teacher in my department is ready to help. From visuals to movie recommendations for better learning, you will have everything. You will also get to have creative debates, and regardless of saying, I improved a lot because of them.

Communicating with Faculty members is very easy. They are open to helping you and talking with you whenever in need. They guide students accordingly and help them to score well enough in exams. Teachers are open-minded, and you will not hear the general drama from them. Since my subject is more theory-based, what I can say is that professors are warm enough to guide you through the sentences and parts one doesn't understand.

Most of the students do not sit for placements. It is not an engineering college where big companies will come and recruit students, and it is a college where you can enjoy your college life while having a good level of education to proceed further. There is a committee that is for Human Resources, they will help you find the best job after doing bachelors, but the thing is those jobs will be exam based, and you will have to study separately for them like for UPSC. There is no surety that you will get a job after having a three-year bachelor's degree, but you can always go for a master and for that, professors will guide you.

There are no in-house or official hostels on the campus of SFS Nagpur, and they have collaborations with hostels within the locality for both boys and girls. You will have to contact the staff for the details as the hostel facilities change likewise.

The primary factor of SFS is that it is located in the prime location of Nagpur, where every weather is enjoyable. You will get to have a ride between the greenery. The College campus is very breathable, and the view is exotic from every classroom. Right from the grand gate to your classroom, you will feel the wow factor in the college. The college itself is ancient yet beautiful. Classes are fully flourished and Porsche. SFS also has a canteen where you can enjoy your lunch break. Unique rooms are assigned for practical courses, and projectors are also included. The Garden is another thing, but the campus's ground floor is filled with tall green trees; autumn will feel like heaven here. It is not a world-class college but one of the finest in Nagpur.

Campus life will depend on what course you will take. As an Art student, I will say that life is delightful. You will have enough time to take one internship from any secure and maintain your college life as well. You can sit in the library and read your course books or whatever you want to when you are free, or you can also use roman on the campus—the perfect campus life with a canteen serving delicious food. You can go out on breaks, take a ride to the nearest cafe, and enjoy your meal. Several events happen on the campus from time to time, and you can easily participate in them and enjoy them enough in three years. Taking admission will not be a regret overall.
