Axis Colleges BBA Review By Hari Prajapati

Axis is renowned for its flagship programs like B. Tech and B.C.A. BBA was started in 2012 and Axis today has become the most sought-after colleges in Kanpur to do BBA. Not just in Kanpur but students from nearby cities and villages also come to Axis Colleges of Kanpur to not just do engineering but BBA as well. Things were different back then but very soon the college has taken giant strides as there were just two specializations in our time but now it’s four. Finance was the subject in which I did specialization. Coming from a very middle-class family and studying in a school where Hindi was the 1st and last language, it became tough to even understand the difficult terms in English. The college knew that and therefore they introduced English as a subject in BBA and that has changed the whole dynamics. Students of Axis comfortably cracked some of the toughest MBA entrance exams. All thanks to Axis colleges teaching methods and guidance.

Business studies require learning skills like leadership and communication. The college used to conduct seminars, student’s development programs and much more to help student earn guidance from the best in the industry. Industry interaction was done by the means of industrial visit every year once. I will appreciate the way they followed the structure as almost all our projects were done on Laptop and the college provided us laptops at subsidised rates. For those who could afford can have their own but for those who didn’t had that deep pockets, didn’t had to burn that pocket to get their laptops.

The faculty was brilliant at least I can say that of my department. There was one problem though that faculty changed frequently. One of my favorite professors left the college and that led to crisis. The college was able to find a like to like replacement but still the signals that were sent were not correct. Their teaching methods were new and unique. Their guidance throughout was one of the main positives. They gave us a challenging environment and made sure that we are ready for any tough situations that come. They also used to reward us on every achieved target.

Since we were among the early batch, the placements were nil for BBA students. The college helped us to get offline placements but they couldn’t do much when it came to online. The company that attended the campus placement drive was asked to consider BBA students but because they didn’t had any roles that could suit their requirements, they avoided hiring BBA students. From what I have learned the time has changed and BBA students too are getting placed from campus. A great milestone achieved and so if one takes admissions now will not have to worry about placements.

There’s one boys and one girls college hostel inside the campus. Both the buildings were built a few years before I joined. The girls' hostel was a three storied building and boys' hostel building was four storied. The boys' hostel had a basketball adjacent to it. There was a running track besides the girls' hostel. The hostels had strict rules in place like compulsorily the students had to have their meals at the mess. Students were not allowed to order from Zomato or Swiggy. Zomato was called foodie baba then but as time changed many things have changed in hostels too. Earlier there were no ways students can stay out after the curfew time. The students have become smart now as they have found ways to leave hostel whenever they want. Thus, the strictness might not be in place anymore but facilities wise the hostel was good.

PS: I didn’t stay at the hostels, all that I have mentioned here is on what I heard from students then and now.

The college is spread across 75 acres and the best part is that college is not congested at all. There are many operational buildings at the campus and some new construction was on. The college’s library was big and had two floors. The college had multiple grounds and four to five rooms with recreational activities. There was no specific library for BBA branch but engineering students could have fun at over 15-20 labs that were there at the college. The college’s cafeteria was one of the highlights. It was big and served both, packed and cooked food.

Life at Axis was great. From all the events that were organized my personal favorite was IDAA. IDAA is a sports competition which was held every year in December and athletes from all colleges of UP were invited to compete at the sports. Being a sports enthusiast representing my college at IDAA was the best part of my illustrious campus life at Axis.
