RVCA Bangalore: A Top-Ranked Architecture College

The RV campus of architecture has a different vibe all together. The experience till now is good as it has many good places to it. The environment is friendly. I chose the college because it is one of the top ranked in Bangalore and there is public transport available with also proper road connections. The building is not constructed like every other Institution. It has a different shape of its own.

I have chosen architecture and currently I am in bachelor's second year. Architecture seemed interested to create or build or design building which feels good for others to look and feel comfortable. Entry criteria is passing NATA and if we are coming through KCET, they have a ranking within 300 which they consider. Management and COMEDK seat is also available. The admission process I followed was initially same as all other KCET engineering colleges. Later we have to visit college and get the admission done with filling some form. The NATA exam is held in 3 rounds for the course.

The fee for architecture in RV currently varies on the how we have got admission. Like management, COMEDK, or KCET. For management the year I joined it was 6 lakh per year, for KCET 1.13 lakh and COMEDK 2.2 lakh. The fees taken in first year by KCET was 97k plus additional 13k for other necessities.

The faculty members in the college are very experienced. There are new faculties too who also have knowledge about everything. There are faculties who have studied the course from other colleges too. The background of faculty as a base is B.Arch but for some engineering subjects the faculties have different background. Teaching of theory and studio subjects is different. Theory subjects are taught very neatly with good understanding of every student and studio subjects. We can show our potentials. The student teacher ratio in each section is 1 faculty for 10 in design subjects and 1 faculty for 20 in few other studio subjects. The bonding with faculty is very friendly and they are always available for any queries.

Even though the infrastructure has many stairs which acts as different areas to sit. It is handicapped friendly too excluding washrooms for handicapped. The admin block is separate from student block but it is connected through bridge which can be accessed on each floor. The location right now is in a little outskirt area which is slowly getting developed with hotels, shops, apartments, etc. Studio classrooms are big as we need space to keep drafting tables and theory classes are smaller with normal benches. Moveable smart board is accessible at every floor and it can be shared by classrooms. Canteens, Library, seminar hall, multi-purpose hall, open amphitheater, stationary, etc. are also present. Sports take place every year and so is a inter batch competition. College even participates in state level competitions held by VTU and Karnataka. There are many places in the college that feels very good to be in like the Kund, Bridge, Oat, etc.

Campus life is really fun with our batch mates, juniors, seniors and faculty members. The small places that can be felt safe in the campus also make it livable. The crowd in the college is 120 students per batch in B.Arch so in total 600 students with around 30 faculty members is what I think. Plus master’s is also available in the college. There are several clubs and cultures which are active in the college. Clubs like Rotaract, NSS, Fance, Music, Art, Pottery, etc. Ganesha Utsav, Kannada Rajyotsava, Onam, etc. are all celebrated in campus with some funds collected by the senior most.
