Lady Brabourne College Campus Life

I recently got admitted to LADY Brabourne college which is a girls college. I am a Semester 1 student and I think I made one of the best choices of my life by choosing this college. I heard a lot about this college and it is really well reputed. The things which I love the most are the opportunities it provides in each and every field. Not only academics but sports and all other extracurricular activities are given equal importance. The teachers are very helpful and are basically geniuses. The staffs are very well behaved and will help you whenever you need. The most important thing is that there is no sort of bullying. In many colleges they ensure about anti bullying strategies are followed but I still hear from the friends in other colleges that the scenarios are often very different than what's promised. The seniors treat the juniors as their own sisters here. The canteen facilities are awesome and the food served is very tasty and hygienic. It also has an added advantage which is that it is pocket friendly. The auditorium is huge. The entire campus is very neat and clean. The library is also awesome. We have a play court and we also play a lot. Our teachers encourage us to participate in various events and help us with the notes if we miss anything. Our college organises one of the most renowned fest known as ‘Kaleidoscope’. Overall it's like an all-rounder.

I have chosen BA Geography Hons. I come from humanities background but I did not have math as a subject in my higher senior secondary. In most of the colleges Geography is not given if you don't have math earlier but thanks to Lady Brabourne, it gave me the opportunity to study Geography as my major subject. My college maintains a high cut-off requirement, which reflects its commitment to academic excellence and attracts some of the brightest minds. While this can be challenging for many aspiring students, it also ensures a competitive and enriching learning environment. I believe balancing such criteria with opportunities for diverse talents and potential could make it even more inclusive and dynamic. It's a 4 year course and has 8 semesters and exams that happen after every 6 months.

The fee of my chosen course is around Rs. 4,000 and we have to pay it year wise. I am a general category student so I don't know if there are any discounts for reserved castes.

The faculty members teaching my chosen course and even other courses are highly knowledgeable and well-qualified in their respective fields. I came to know this as CU allows us to study different subjects other than our majors and minors. Most of the professors have advanced degrees and significant teaching or industry experience. Studies are even more interested because it includes presentations, discussions, and occasional use of technology like smart boards, which makes the classes engaging and interactive. The problem-solving abilities of the faculty are commendable, as they address queries thoroughly and encourage analytical thinking. In school the way we used to feel so loved and warm while learning topics it's the same. The teacher’s off-course is highly professional but also have the right amount of motherly affection. The teacher-student ratio is balanced, allowing individual attention whenever required. Faculty members are approachable, and they foster a really supportive learning environment for us.

I am a semester 1 student so I don't know about the placement things but it is known that who ever passes out from here tend to be very successful in their lives.

Yes, our college has hostel facilities. I live near my college so I am not a member but my friends are. Students from North Bengal and other districts of Kolkata and even sometimes from other states. They enroll in our college. My most of the friends are from outside Kolkata and I often come to hear about the hostel facilities. They seem very satisfied and they get breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a dining hall where all the students together eat the meal. I cannot tell surely about the no. of rooms but yes, they have dormitories and also private rooms. They are engaged in various activities like Yoga, etc. The Warden is also very affectionate. Outsiders are not allowed but one day some of us the non-hostellers. I don't know about Hostel feels but the timings are reasonable and no one is allowed to go outside after 6 pm except few days.

The infrastructure of our college is well-maintained and equipped with modern facilities. The classrooms are spacious and have adequate ventilation, along with technological aids like projectors and smart boards to support effective teaching. The library is well-stocked with a wide range of books, journals, and digital resources, providing a conducive environment for learning and research. We have 3 canteens that are very much affordable and hygienic and serving such tasty food. The auditorium is huge and we also have a basketball court. Our campus is also very big and has aesthetic look. The campus also has computer labs with updated software, ensuring that students stay ahead in technical skills. We have a common room too where we have some gym facilities and indoor games too. As it is a girl’s college it has good security ensuring a sense of safety for us. Our college is located at 7 point Park circus and thus there is no doubt about transportation.

It is great and no exaggeration is done over here. I am enjoying my campus life to the fullest. The campus is always full of people with such helpful and awesome seniors who are highly talented and we have a lot to learn from them. We have a lot of competitions taking place in all fields - sports, cultural, academic and all other extracurricular activities. We have a lot of seminars and workshops and sometimes health check up workshops are organized too. We have our cultural committee. I am a part of it and it's very fun. Our college hosts the most famous Fest called the ‘Kaleidoscope’. Students from all other colleges come to see and compete in our College Fest. We also have wonderful Annual program day. We have sports too which is also very fun. My experience is top notch and I am excited for the rest of my years in here.
