Free Education at Sri Sathya Sai Institute

SSIHL Anantapur was not just a institute but it was an experience in itself. From the point of view of an outsider, it definitely would give a person a ‘fear of missing out’ vibe but once one is adjusted, it would be a happy place. However, the extraordinary faculty and the food is all that would attract a person here. Not to forget it has a vast campus, which offers a many areas to be explored and also, the many extracurricular activities that would shape a person’s personality. It definitely is different from the rest of the institutions as it offers free education to all irrespective of their gender, race, or community.

So, the course, which I chose, was BA as I was interested in History and so I sat for written EE and interview rounds. That is all that is to be done for the admission. There was a mid-year examination and final examination accompanied by several unit tests for all the courses. In the current scenario, as my cousins are studying currently in the same institute in the same course, the course has been upgraded and improved with experienced faculty.

The fee structure was absolutely free. We did not have to bear any education costs as it was taken care by Bhagwan Sathya Sai Baba’s trust. We just had to bear the hostel fee, which was very affordable, and it was just Rs. 20,000 rupees per year.

Like I mentioned in the previous statement, that the faculty in the BA course were not much experienced and that they were less in number. The teacher ratio course was justifiable which was 1:20. However, the faculty for other departments were quite experienced with most of them holding a doctorate degree. The method of teaching was blackboards and ppts but it was not up to the mark for the BA course.

The placement cell was inactive for BA students. However, for MBA course, it was highly active and the record for their students is quite commendable.

The institute is fully residential with no day scholar system and there are six students allowed in every room. The boy’s and the girl’s hostels are in different places. The food was a topic to be talked about as it they would provide splendid food all the time with a lot of variety with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner being served. Hostel was quite strict with its timings with the rule of waking up at 5 AM in the morning, starting with prayers, 6 AM for exercise and 9 AM to 4 PM for institute timings, 6 PM in the evening for prayers again and 7 PM to 9 PM study hours with 9:30 PM lights would be off. I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel and especially missing the food there.

SSIHL Anantapur’s campus was quite vast with a well-equipped library, a field to play, and different buildings belonging to different departments, auditorium, well-equipped laboratories, smart classrooms available, a nursing room, sports room, and a store available with all that was needed by the students and not to forget the ATM as well. It was a 24/7 residential campus so naturally everything would be provided in the premises. My favorite spot indeed was the field where we could play some outdoor activities there.

So, my overall campus life was a lifetime experience as we were completely detached with the outer world and we could explore ourselves and sharpen our talents. Every student was to be a part of a club and I was a part of the event management team who had to organize all the competitions happening in the campus. There were many cultural, fine arts events happening every week. Every festival would be celebrated with much enthusiasm. However, only the academic was a bigger failure on my part as a student of BA.
