Fee Structure and Scholarships at SRIHER Chennai

I am pursuing my education in Sri Ramachandra Institute of Science and Technology. Speaking about the Institute, there are a lot of positive as well as negative aspects. Being a first year student I was pretty nervous about moving into a more different place other than school. I was nervous about how will I blend in at a new place but the professors made comfortable and flexible. They have always been there to help. The Institute has a strict no ragging policy, which has helped interaction with seniors and juniors more easy. Talking about the infrastructure, the Institute is built on 150 acres and there are buggy vehicle throughout the Institute. According to me, as the Institute also accommodates hospital, it provides hands on experience on whatever we learn. Even this factor made me choose this Institute from the others. The Institute provides regular internal assessment and semester exams. There are yearly cultural and other extracurricular activities, as they focus on real life skills. The Institute has good facilities like library, etc.

The course I chose is B.Sc (Hons) Medical microbiology and applied molecular biology as I was more interested to learn about these small microorganisms which surround us all the time. The eligibility criteria is completion of 12 and passing the entrance exam or the interview (differs according to your course choice). The admission process is first to apply through online and then to show up for the interview. The admission process is easy as there are helpful staffs who guide you throughout the process. Exams are scheduled throughout and regularly. We get hands on experience as we work in laboratory, even with positive patient samples to get real life experience.

The tuition fee is Rs. 1,25,000 per year. The admission fee is Rs. 2,000 and the insurance membership is Rs. 3,000. The Institute provides scholarship from 2nd year which is Rs. 50,000.

The faculty members are very flexible and easy to interact with. The faculty members come with a Ph.D or M.Sc degree. Most of them have a doctorate degree. They use PPTs and blackboards to teach. We have a batch in charge for each class, who is very approachable and helps to solve our problems. There are also group discussions which are held on some days. The faculty let's students take seminars that helps us explain and understand each topic firmly. The professors are student friendly.

Spanning over 150 acres SRMC campus is designed to offer a comprehensive educational experience. The Institution boasts more than 2 million of constructed space, fully air conditioned classroom and laboratories. There is also a central library with a vast collection of books which provide a lot of knowledge. The campus functions as a self contained township offering staffs, atms, etc. There are different canteens providing well cooked and hygienic food. There is a spacious auditorium where most of the Institute events and cultural are held.

The overall campus life is good. As there is no ragging, senior junior interaction is easy. There are a lot of clubs such as dance, theatre, sports, and there are also NSS and NCC clubs. The Institute allows other Institute cultures. The Institute also holds their own cultural events. There might be some restriction on a few things but as a whole the extracurricular activities in the Institute are good.
