Admission at Mysore School of Architecture: Requirements & Process

I got admission through KCET a writing NATA exam. Mysore School of Architecture is afflicted to VTU Mysore. Difference between other college and my college is the way they teach and the curricular activities that are held here.

This course is for students who are interested in Architecture and Designing. To get into this course, you should get a percentage above 65 in your 12th board, and should give NATA examination held by COA (Council of Architecture) and score above 100 marks for total 200. This exam’s syllabus is different from 12th syllabus so better to purchase book to prepare. After that, you can admit through management quota where the fee is more, or get admitted through K CET counseling. After that, you get placement for the college. You have to spend just 1 hour in college for admission procedures. This course has 10 semesters, i.e.; 5 years the exams and internal tests are done according to VTU timetable. Academics are good compared to other college, they teach theory and real life difference by live experiments, study tours, week of internship, etc.

Each year, students have to pay around Rs. 1,50,000 including exam fee, tuition fee, stationary material, etc. College provides transportation facility and students are charged extra if they opted for it. They don't have any special discount for specific category students, but there is a scholarship of upto Rs. 60,000.

We have different subjects in this course, so each subject is handled by different faculty. Some of them have completed their Master’s and PhD. Faculties are well knowledgeable. They use board, PPTS, group discussion live experiment, field experiments, and study tour for teaching method. Teacher to student ratio is 1:10. They are approachable during campus hours. They are very understanding towards their students.

Placement cell is very good. In this course, you have to attain internship during last semester. The placement cell makes sure that we get a good firm for our internship. For internship, they usually don't pay the stipend, but some of them pay max Rs. 10,000. Average package for jobs is Rs. 25,000 and highest is Rs. 60,000. My placement experience for internship was pretty good. I had to choose between 2 options, but the placement cell helped me get through it.

No hostel facilities are provided by Mysore School of Architecture. There are PGs near the college. They are affordable.

Academic block is of 3 floors. It is built in 1.5 acres of land. The college is in the remote area of Mysore unlike the other colleges. Campus is surrounded by residential buildings. Classrooms are pretty spacious and can accommodate 60 students. There are theory classrooms, drafting studios, lecture hall, etc. Library is actually good and easily accessible through any part of the campus. Auditorium is on 3rd floor with a good light and ventilation. Canteen has a good space in front of campus ground, and we get very good security, and then there is parking for two wheelers inside the campus.

My college life was worth experience for a student of my age with very friendly faculty, good opportunities for competition, games, etc. The college is always crowded during campus hours. The central courtyard is a centre of attraction of Mysore School of Architecture. It organizes a fest called as ‘Archidays’ every year. Each and every student waits for this fest. It takes goes on for 1 month where whole college is divided into 4 groups without considering the year.
