My Experience in Government College Solan

Overall Rating
Government College Solan was okay, being best educational platform for most of the Solan residents. It is located in beautiful valley of Solan with mesmerizing view of mountains definitely would add to your educational journey. The institution is surrounded by various coaching institutes also if we want to study for government exam side by side. It is great place to get exposure but depends on person to person. This place was near to my home.
 

Academics Rating
The Science department is good. It is a government college so you need at least 60% or above to get admission here. The exams are conducted annually and there is a mid-term exam in midsession .If you fail in three subjects, you will have to repeat which is good compared to semester system.
Government College Solan is quite affordable considering the fee structure. The fee is around Rs. 3,000 per year excluding examination fee, which is around Rs. 2,000. Various scholarships are also provided if you fit in the eligibility criteria.
 

Faculty Rating
The Science faculty was great. There were less teachers back then but now I think new staff is recruited which is good. You can approach the teachers for any doubt, as all of them are very humble. They will guide you for life.
 

Placement Rating
The college does not provide placements for Science department. It does guide us for your future, making us aware about various opportunities. It does provide placement for the departments like BBA and BCA.
 

Hostel Rating
I was not in hostel so I do not have any idea as such. It has hostel facility for girls, which is located in upper bazaar. The hostel is good, as I have heard you get rooms on sharing basis and food is ok.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is not up to the mark. It is an old college and needs to be renovated. However, it does have basis facilities like labs, classrooms, library, canteen and many others.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is average. For sports and NCC enrolled students, the knife here is best. The college is located just 15 minutes away from mall road where you can hang out with friends and have a great time. It conducts annual day and sports day and sometimes dj parties. The campus life is good. In your free time, you can sit in the ground or canteen and have fun.
