Admission and Fees at SKSVMACET Gadag

Overall experience in SKSVMACET Gadag was very good. I chose this college based on my CET rankings. This was because with whatever options I had, this one was the best available option. The institution has very good, clean, and green campus away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The faculty, laboratory, and library facilities are excellent in the institute. However, the institute is located in the outskirts of the town. So commuting is little bit difficult compared to the other institutes.

The course that I chose Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Mechanical Engineering. I opted this course as I was fascinated by Machines from the childhood. The entry to the institute is based Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). Based on the ranking, students will be allocated seats in the institute. Admission process is through KCET and offline. Once you get a seat here, visit the institute, fill the form, and pay the fee to get selected. The curriculum had 8 semesters, 2 in a year spanning for the duration of 4 years. The academics is medium, it still needs some improvements to prepare students for the real life experiences.

The fee for course can be divided as Karnataka CET fee and institute fee. KCET fee was Rs. 33,000 per year. The institute fee is around Rs. 10,000 per year. SC/ST students had an opportunity to get exempt from the KCET fee. Therefore, the annual fee for them would be as low as Rs. 10,000. Various scholarships (both government and private) were available during the tenure of the course.

The faculty members teaching in the course were highly educated. To be a professor in the institution, having M.Tech degree was bare minimum. Some of the professors had even obtained Doctoral degree (PhD). Few of the professors were pursuing PhD degree. Method of teaching included both Blackboard and Presentations. Faculties had excellent problem solving skills, and the teacher student ratio was about 1:30. My bonding with the faculty members was decent.

The institute provides campus placements mostly to the students of CSE, ISE, and EC department. The placement cell helps students to train he students for campus placements. The placement cell used to conduct mock interviews for the benefit of the students. Average package was 3.2 LPA and highest package was 6 LPA.

The institute offers residential facilities inside the campus. Total number of rooms is around 250 in both boy’s and girl’s hostels. Yes, boy’s and girl’s hostel is separate. Hostel fee is Rs. 89,000 annually. The hostel will get closed by 8 PM for girls. I did not stay in the hostel though.

Every discipline, for example Mechanical, Computer Science, Information Science, or Electronics & Communication Engineering had its own separate blocks. The campus is decent enough. It is located at about 4 to 5 KM away from the college. Library, Labs, Seminar halls, and Auditoriums are maintained very well. The institute has a canteen inside the campus. The institute had a playground to conduct sports related activities. My favorite thing inside the campus was library, which has huge pile of books and journals for the purpose of studying. The institute had institute bus facilities from Gadag, Hubballi, and Yalvigi Railway Station.

Overall campus life is amazing in SKSVMACET Gadag. The institute crowd is decent as it was not that much crowded. Best part of the campus is that it is located away from the town in calm, green, and clean environment right next to a hillock. The institute had few voluntary clubs like NCC, NSS, etc. The institute used to conduct annual sports and fests after every alternate year. The institute also used to conduct Hackathons, Project, and Seminar competitions on a regular basis.
