Providence College for Women: A Peaceful Place to Study

Overall Rating
I chose Providence College for Women because this was the only women’s college in my district with hostel inside the campus. English department of this college is best among other departments. So that is also a reason for joining this college. Programs and cultural events will be conducted from time to time. Sports are top notch here. You'll never be bored here and that’s a guarantee. It’s a peaceful place in the middle of a tea estate and forest.
 

Academics Rating
I chose English Literature because I like reading so I wanted to explore more about that. They demand just a passed out in 12th and nothing more. If the seats are full they give priority to merit students. For admission you have to fill the application form and you have to submit it on the date given by them along with the documents asked for. That's it. Exams will be conducted at least once in 2 months.
Fee for BA English Literature at Providence College for Women is Rs. 13,000 per year. Admission fee is Rs. 100. Exam fee is Rs. 1,050. If you take admission through sports quota then you'll be given concession in your fees. Scholarships are available for SC, ST, BC, and minority category students and its amount is Rs. 7,000 per year.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty at Providence College for Women is well trained and qualified. Mostly book oriented classes are organised here. Many staff members have cleared NET exam. Sometimes they use ppt as well. Ratio for student: teacher is 7:1. If you want any help or have a doubt, staffs are always approachable for helping you out.
 

Placement Rating
The placement stats are not that great at Providence College for Women. Less than 10% students get placed through the college. Placements mostly come for schools for the positions of teachers. Packages that are offered vary from Rs. 13,000/per month to Rs. 25,000/ per month. No internships are offered here. But you can take off-campus internship; they give you concessions in attendance for that.
 

Hostel Rating
At Providence College for Women, the hostel has two buildings one in old and other is new. New building will be allotted to first and final year students. Whereas, the 2nd year and PG students will be given old building. Food in mess is average. You cannot go outside without the permission of hostel in-charge.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Campus of Providence College for Women is not that huge. It’s already in midst of forest it always has a cold environment. Seating capacity is more than required s the classroom is spacious. Canteen is the best spot in the college. Sports facilities are top notch here.
 

Campus Rating
Providence College for Women will not be that crowded. There are several clubs in Providence College for Women; some of them are NCC, NSS, innovation club, UPSC aspirant group, peace club, and more. I was part of Innovation club and peace club. They take you too many factories for you to explore if you join Innovation club. There is no limit for festivals and celebrations that are organised here. In English department every week there would be at least a webinar or some event going on.
