Supportive Teaching Staff at Vikram Deb Autonomous College

Vikram Deb Autonomous College was built in 1970's by the King of Jeypore and was also named after him. It is one of the most reputed college in our region and has been the first choice of every student in my district. My parents have also studied from this college. This college was once ranked number 1 in Orissa. This college has a very beautiful campus. We also have a hill behind our campus which makes it even more scenic. It is situated at the centre of our town. The academics and administration of the college is excellent. Till now, my college life and experience has been very good.

I opted for the B.Sc (Hons.) with Mathematics because it is my favourite subject. Since childhood, I was interested in Mathematics. Admissions are conducted on the basis of class 12th marks and students have to clear cut-off for their chosen course. Admissions are done through online mode. Students have to apply at the SAMS portal. After getting selected, the college provides particular date for the documentation process. The college conducts exams regularly. This includes 1 internal or mid-semester exam and 1 end-semester exam. The semester exam is conducted one in every 6 months and the mid-semester exam is conducted 2 months before the semester examination.

The fee for my course is Rs. 6,500 per year. The college offers scholarships for SC / ST category students.

In my course, we have 6 faculties who are very supportive, talented, and highly qualified. They demonstrate every concept clearly so that students can get in-depth knowledge about the subject. They use both digital and traditional modes of teaching. We have blackboards in our classroom and separate rooms for the digital studies. Digital learning is available for most subjects except for math. We also have practical class rooms where we perform various experiments. I have very good bonding with the all the teachers because of their friendly nature.

Vikram Deb Autonomous College does not offer any placement services and students have to find jobs on their own.

Yes, the college has residential facilities which are separately available for male and female students. For boys’ hostel, the college has 3 buildings which can accommodate around 600 to 700 students. The girls’ hostel has 2 buildings with has room for 300 students. The hostel fee is affordable as the college is maintained by the government. It is around Rs. 1,000 per year.

The college is spread over an area of around 10 acres with various gardens and green surroundings. It has separate buildings for every department, many of which are newly built. Many of the classrooms are spacious. The library is well maintained and has its own building. It also has a big playground in the middle of the campus. The college canteen is present at the entrance and offers tasty food.

Our campus life is awesome. There are around 2,000 to 3,000 students in our college. Students are very collaborative and help each other reach their highest potential. The college conducts a grand annual sports event where students participate. The teachers prepare students for the sports day. Every year students from different departments organise fresher party for newcomers and conduct farewell for seniors. The management supports students throughout these events.
