Dum Dum Motijheel College Fee Structure and Concessions

As an ex-student of Dum Dum Motijheel Science College, I can say it really a good college under the West Bengal State University. Being one of the oldest colleges established as early as 1950's, it carries a legacy of old heritage written in every corner of the campus building. Though there are facets that are commendable, other parallel facets will be discussed for a comprehensive review. The overall review of moderately well as long as my ultimate time in the complete course is concerned. However, the peers and faculties are competitively great compared to many other colleges of the same university.

Enrolled in the BA (Hons.) with English, I particularly enjoyed the very engaging, and yet friendly classes by the eminent teachers. The semester exams are easy to moderately difficult. If one prepares really well, they can also top the exams. The admission process is usually followed by online admission and then a college verification date, which would be provided by future correspondences. The course curriculum focuses on Indian literature as well as old Victorian Age literature, which makes it comprehensive, while typically a blend of American of American and European popular literature. As far as real-world implications are concerned, one can usually opt for higher studies based on the undergraduate studies and learn varied principles of constructive literature and criticism. By constantly putting efforts, both academically and learning extracurricular activities, one can easily go beyond the limits and contribute effortlessly to any industry.

The admission fees during the time I enrolled (2019) was around Rs. 2,300. Currently, it revolves more or less around Rs. 2,500. The special category students like SC, ST, OBC, or minority community can get extra concession in their fee. In each semester, the fee is Rs. 300 to Rs. 350. It may increase with the inclusion of elective subjects (i.e. – Philosophy, Human Science, Journalism, or Geography.

The faculty of BA English (Hons) is by far great, comprising one of the most noted teachers or professors of the field. Their prowess in the subject is amazing. They conduct the classes very interactively. In total, 8 faculties are expert in their jobs. However, there were few classes conducted at some seasons, also when students are usually at their terminal years. The teachers, at all times, had contact with the students to coordinate and help in any subjects or projects in the overall course. Some of the teachers are one of the renowned names in the published books of the same degree in the market. They are also visiting faculties in many National and International universities in the field of Arts & Literature. They guide the students in every exam, are it the internals or the semester exams, and pick up calls whenever there is any doubt. There were 85 students in our class.

Many students got them placed in higher positions or advanced education with their own efforts and support from the faculty.

As far the recent update, there is no hostel primarily of the college. However, students usually stay in the PGs, which are close to the college.

The infrastructure is by far good. There are two buildings of the college, one is of the Commerce college, and the other is for Science & Arts college. Therefore, it is obvious there would be difference in terms of many facilities. However, there are Science & Research labs present as well as their large playground for all categories of sport activities. There is a library, which is stocked with books. There is also a seminar room, where important people can take classes on variety of topics.

The seniors of Dum Dum Motijheel Science College encourage their juniors to join various activities of the college, like various fests, events, inter-college competitions, and political debates. The faculties also organize inter-departmental fests, which comprises many important activities and celebration by alumni or seniors. The literary club is usually managed by all the literary students (Bengali, English or Hindi) and try join inculcate by themselves many occasions or co-curial actives for further enhancement. The frequency of classes can be better; however, the teachers try their best to make the entire syllabus covered. Except that, the overall campus experience is well & good.
