Eligibility and Fee Structure of MKC Kolkata for B.Sc Psychology

Maharani Kasiswari College is a Girls college under Calcutta University. It is situated at a prime location in Shyam bazaar area where transportation is very convenient, with metro station and bus stand in 2 minutes walking distance. This was one of my prime reasons of choosing this college. The other factors being, the college has the best Psychology department as well as faculty. Also, this is a morning shift college which makes it easy for students to join other activities like part time job, etc. The Principal, Dr. Sima Chakravarti is also very supporting which made many things easier.

I chose B.Sc Psychology course. This college serves first come first serve basis. Eligibility criteria at my time were only 12th marks. The admission process was quite easy, we just had to apply for the course, depending on the cutoff marks after few days our names were shortlisted and immediately we had to take admission by paying the fees. We have semester system so a B.Sc degree contains 3 years, per year consisting of 2 semesters. We went for academic trips, academic fest, seminars recently, which really helped us to get real life knowledge.

Admission fees for my course are Rs. 6,700. Scholarship and financial aid are available for students. Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, which is also called SVCMC, is of Rs. 18,000 for Bsc. This college also provides Government scholarship to students with certain percentage.

The faculty members here are extremely helpful, cooperative, encouraging, and friendly. They are very knowledgeable and the most important thing was that they were always ready to accept if they would do any wrong. Professors treated us with extreme kindness. They used to set free boundaries for our minds to explore. They always use books, PPTs and group discussions. They even recommended us movies to enrich our real life knowledge. Lastly, they were very much approachable, be it cultural functions or before external exams, they were always available to solve our tiniest problems.

The college is currently working on building a cell to help students get jobs.

The campus size of MKC Kolkata is little small but when combined with MMC, it is actually a big college campus. Though, the campus building is small, but the library is extremely useful as well as insightful. It has seminar halls and auditorium, which can easily contain 200-300 students. The canteen is reasonable. Both the colleges are interconnected and conduct classes in both buildings. The principal office and admission department is in MMC building.

The overall campus life was good as I had 1.5 years online while rest in offline mode. The college crowd is nice. It has NCC and NSS clubs where students are free to register their names. One of the most famous engagement activities of MKC Kolkata is the Saraswati Puja celebration, where college used to feed their students. We also used to organize DOL JATRA celebration in a field nearby where there used to be cultural program for first 4-5 hours then there were arrangements of Dj where everyone was allowed and music was played on a loop.
