Bodoland University Kokrajhar Admission Fees is Around Rs. 500/-

I joined the University in 2018 after completing my B.Sc. from some other College in Kokrajhar. As I was looking for Universities near my hometown and this was in proximity, I took admission in Masters, Department of Chemistry. So if you're someone staying nearby Kokrajhar or Bongaigaon, this might be a good option if you're planning to pursue a Masters degree. Overall, I don’t regret the decision of taking admission here.

I have done Master's in Chemistry from Bodoland University Kokrajhar. The reason for choosing Chemical Science is purely personal as l had a great interest in this subject. So make sure you have a clear picture why you want to do masters because 2 years is a big commitment and you will eventually lose interest if you don't have your concepts clear. The basic eligibility criteria for getting into my course are that you should have a minimum of 55% in your graduation. Once you apply for admission, if your application gets shortlisted, you will be called for counseling. Regular classes for new session starts from August end and you will have regular sectional exams (carrying 20 marks) with your regular lab classes and assignments. Exams for the first semester start around December first week. Unlike your bachelors you get limited time as you have to study for 4-5 papers before examination but that majorly depends on how you manage your lab, regular classes and clear semester exams without any backlogs. Required % of attendance is 75 to appear in your final exams.

The fee structure of my course is around Rs. 22,000/- to Rs. 23,000/- per year. First payment should be done at the time of first year admission fees of Rs. 700/-. Additional amount of Rs. 500/- has to be paid to Chemical Society, which organizes all events and inter departmental activities for my course. Some relaxation is also available for quota students, minorities and students coming from financially challenged backgrounds. Scholarships for students securing above 85% in the graduation are also available under Inspire Scholarship.

My department has 4 faculty members and 2 Laboratory assistants. All the teaching staff is well experienced and Ph.D holders in their respective fields. Two of them are award winning research work publishers: Dr. Sanjay Basumatary (NET, SLET, and Ph.D) and Dr. Hemaprobha Saikia (NET, B.Ed, and Ph.D), who has done some amazing research work in Material Science and her work got published in Royal Society of Chemistry journal. I had good experience with the faculty and my personal favorite was Sanjay Sir. He explains Organic Chemistry concepts in blackboard from his own hand-written hard copy notes. Dr Saikia mama encourages students to take part in active seminars. All faculty members are approachable and take the doubts of students from time to time.

Regarding the placement opportunities, I am not sure if you’d be able to secure a placement here since it is a state University and have limited resources only.

The Universty has residential facilities. They have separate hostels for boys and girls. I went to the girl's hostel once as my friend stayed there. The rooms are well maintained, organized, have clean space. I believe that they have big rooms and good quality mess food. Hostel fees are charged at the time of admission separately if you're allotted one. The fees are around Rs. 4000/- to Rs. 5000/- per year and the total depends on the duration of the course. No entry at the hostel gate is given after 9:30 PM.

Bodoland University Kokrajhar has a large and beautiful campus. The aerial view of the campus looks absolutely stunning! Each Department has separate buildings with well ventilated classrooms. The library is at the ground floor of C-Block and you can find all the required books and references there. Department of my course has 3 laboratories, an auditorium for events organized by Chemical Society. One of the departmental lab is for research scholars pursuing their Ph.D.

My University campus life was good. Though I had limited resources, the teachers really helped me manage my classes and exams. The laboratory facilities need improvements as we faced a few challenges due to some chemicals being unavailable at our labs. Outside the research lab, we used to have our own sitting area where we used to sit and hang out with friends. Apart from this, we had events, seminars, fests, and annual sports week. I was the vice president of Chemical Society so I had to take active part in departmental events to make sure everything is organized well. I also made some amazing friends during my masters.
