Kalinga University B.Sc Review By Deenanath Yadav

Kalinga University is the best university in the whole Chhattisgarh that what I feel because of the discipline in the university. Starting from my first year I can sense that the management in the university is very strict towards the study and discipline and all the faculty members were also very strict in their fashion of teaching and they teach each subject with dedication and the strictness at the same time. University has much to offer for the students in the various fields. In the area of biotechnology this is the best private university. Kalinga University is also affiliated to the UGC and it is rated B in NAAC ranking. Since it is a private university hence fee is high then the other local universities around the city and the fee for my course was Rs. 55,000 and it was non refundable. I select this college because I wanted to make career in biotechnology and for that this university was better than the other universities that I was getting.

I was enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and this course is consist of many subjects mostly related to the biology that we studied in our Intermediate. To get admission in Kalinga University we can just directly go to the college reception and there we can buy the application form for 1000 rupees and after that college publishes its own merit list according to the availability of the seats in the course. To be eligible for the admission we should qualify the Inter with good percentage so that we can get the admission in good branch and most of the applicant try for the biotechnology because this branch. But taking about the difficulty of the exam in the college I can say that it is very hard to qualify the exams because syllabus is very huge. I choose this program because it can provide me many career opportunities after the graduation and we can also go for the Masters after the graduation and also apply for the jobs.

As I have mentioned earlier that the faculties in the university are very strict towards the students so that we can learn more and we can get good learning for their teaching and their style is also good if not for all then for me because I understood all that they teach me and I got all the concept of the subjects and I also get the most understanding of the subjects. All the teachers in the university had to qualify the UGC NET exam to be professor in the university and also they had to complete their PhD to teach in the graduation class. In my class all the teacher that taught us was good and they also had good experience in the teaching like one of my teachers was teaching the students since 30 years so there was no absence of experienced teachers in the university. Backgrounds of the teachers were also good and they all were very good in their study.

Yes, there is a cell in the university for the placement purpose but the cell is only active for the Engineering and MCA students and they did not help for the B.Sc students until some company visit for the biotechnology students like in my batch a company names VNR seeds visited for the hiring and only selected five students out of 120 students. There are many opportunities after graduation in biotechnology but in my college only very few companies visited for the B.Sc students and only 25 students got placed in batch and in which 10 were placed in the Computer application companies and they required the knowledge of the Microsoft Word. But the one things in which placements helps is the industrial visit and they send us to visit the industry and to learn their how the work happen in the industry and we can also get internships in those companies which is very rare because they plan very hard test for the internship.

Hostel in the university was average and I would say that the meal quality was also average and we can get good rooms outside the university area with less fee and with good facilities like the hostel fee in the university is Rs. 90,000 per year while we can get the same facilities outside the campus for the Rs. 60,000 per month which means we can save up to Rs. 30,000 per year. But other than the saving college hostel has more to offer like there is really good sports facilities in the university and as a day scholar we cannot opt for them and that is why I choose to stay in the college hostel so I can get a good college environment where we can interact with the junior and seniors and can also get the good understanding of the university. All the college hostels have three and four seater rooms and one hostel have two seater rooms also. I opted for the four seater rooms because it has less fee than the three or two seater rooms.

Kalinga University may not be huge in the terms of area but it is very huge in the terms of the facilities and the resources that are present in the college. There is good library in the institute with more than 50000 books and journals and also setting facilities for the reading. There is also an incubator in the college for the encouragement of the business ideas and to help the students financially. Classrooms in the university are also very good and very well furnished in all manner and also the computer labs in the university are very good although I rarely use them but the one thing that I use is the biotechnology labs because we spent a lot of time in there so they must me good and they are really good and they have every chemical that we need for the practical. There is an auditorium in the university where we can go and chill and we can also request to play movies on the weekend and there are also some seminars happen there.

Three years of my life was well spent in the Kalinga University because I learn a lot in the institute and I also had made many mistakes and I also improve a lot in my college life at the KU. One thing that I liked the most about the KU is that there are many course that they offer and we get to interact with many students across all the streams and we get the idea of their course and how we can get learn better and we also share our problems and they share problems in their course and this mutual interactions makes good relation between students. There are two main events in the institute that takes place every year. One is the cultural event in which students perform and there are also some competitions in the events and the other fest is the sports events that also happen each year in which plays against other departments of the university.
