VESCOL Mumbai Offers Certificate, UG, and PG Level Courses

My overall experience at VESCOL Mumbai is pretty great. It was established in 2009 by Shri Hashu Advani and currently holding a B+ grade by NAAC. Apart from academics, It also has extra curriculum activities for students. We have our annual intra College competition like Moot courts, Negotiation competition, PIL drafting competition, Client counseling competition. It is a good Institution for someone who wants to pursue a career in Law. I choose this College as I have hear a lot of good things about the Institution and it is a very well know College.

The course chosen by me is BA.LL.B. Here, students can get enrolled in number of UG, PG, and Certificate courses. The reason behind I choose this course was that I was from Science background but I didn't want to become a Doctor or an Engineer. One of my family friends suggested Law as a career choice and I went with it. The eligibility criteria for this course are entrance based and one should have cleared MHT CET Law which is state level entrance exam. This exam is mandatory for getting admission for this course. An application has to appear the exam and after the results are out they are required to register for CAP and fill the application form. There are generally 3 rounds where the Colleges are allotted as per the students’ preference and the marks they have obtained. In my course, we have 10 semesters which is 2 semesters per year. Each semester is of 6 month duration with including 1 month study leave. So in total there are 2 exams per year and that is 10 exams in total. In Law academics is important but it will not prepare you that we'll for real life challenges. Law students have to do Internships to gain practical knowledge.

The fee that I paid in VESCOL Mumbai was around Rs. 30,000/- annually. Tuition fees is around Rs. 21,000/-. The Rs. 30,000/- per year which includes tuition fees. The total comes to around Rs. 30,000/-. They provide scholarships to the student which is category wise divided like SC/ST and OBC categories.

Faculties are friendly and helpful. They try their best to help the students. There are 15 permanent teaching faculties with 3 visiting faculty. 13 permanent teaching staff has completed their Law Masters Degree and some of them have passed NET. Method of teaching is that each classroom is equipped with a smart board. The professors either write on the board or use PPTs to teach with occasional group discussions for the students.

The building has 2 wings and each wing has 7 floors. They have 2 classrooms per floor. The classrooms are equipped with white board, a projector, speaker, mic and CCTV. The seating capacity varies depending on the classroom size. They have Library, Legal aid center, E- Resource center, Moot courtroom, Classrooms and Canteen. The College is situated in Sindhi Society, Chembur. The campus is shared with 2 other Vivekanand Institutions. There is a common Canteen which serves excellent food. There is a sports room. They do not provide transportation service to the College students. The facilities provided by the College are excellent. There is CCTV in each classrooms and hall ways, which is monitored constantly.

My overall campus experience is good. The crowd is descent. The College has its own committee which is run by the faculty like the Student Grievance Cell, Anti Ragging Committee, Women Development Cell, Internal Complaints Committee, Staff Grievance Redressal Cell, Admission Grievance Committee, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and many more. Annual fest takes place in the College named ‘Lakshya’. They conduct Freshers' party for students. They celebrate Hindi/ Marathi bhasha divas. They also celebrate Constitution Day.
