'Gargi' and 'Gayatri' are Girls' Hostels Present at PIET Jaipur Campus

As an alumni of Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology Jaipur, my overall experience has been amazing & insightful. From campus experience to study patterns and placements, this Institute has never missed any chance to amaze me. My teachers were collaborative, well versed in their subjects & provided good practical knowledge. They made it an insightful journey rather than a boring one. However, I did not appreciate their strict attendance policies. The key factors that made me choose this Institute included quality of education and a good campus life which was appealing to both me and my parents. If you are a student who wants a strong educational built with practical exposure followed by promising career growth then, this is the right place for you. Another factor that appealed to me the most was its affiliation to the Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) and 3rd rank in Rajasthan during that time. The Institute’s rigid discipline and strict educational guidelines alongwith 99% placement rates makes it stand out the most.

I chose B.Tech in Electronics & Communication. I was always a Machinery geek and designing them was my passion therefore, knowing that I can make a career out of it was great news. My major motive of choosing this field was that I wanted to make a career in Robotics, Design and build the models, learn tools such as VLSI and gain practical knowledge to build a future in the Tech industry. Since, this Institute is affiliated to the RTU, there is a necessary REAP counselling that students must go through and a good JEE score is a bonus to that. Or else, they can directly reach out to the Admission Cells located in the campus. Talking about the Institute's semester and exams for my course, there are 8 semesters & 6 exams in a year: 2 mid-terms in each semester and 2 end-semester exams per year. Academics prepare you for the real-life challenges as well, for example, organising events at the Institute exposed me to team-handling challenges and through that I developed conflict-resolution skills, team-coordination, and decision-making skills. Moreover, I leant how to deal with conflicting situations in both personal and professional life, handling the clients, sourcing materials, etc. Moreover, academics taught me to develop planned topic structures to deal with particular subject and organise all the critical aspects based on priorities. Hence, I would say that it develops problem-solving skills which help you to deal with any real-life challenges.

The annual Tuition fee for my course was Rs. 47,000/- or Rs. 23,000/- per semester. The Admission fee was around Rs. 5000/- including the Registration fees and other charges. However, it changes as per the course, so you are advised to consult with the Institute first. Special category students, including physical disability, below minimum parental income criteria, girl child, etc. are eligible to secure upto 50% scholarship. Scholarships and Financial Aids are available upto 50% of the total Tuition fees.

All the faculty members were well-experienced and well-educated in their respective fields of study/teaching. They all were also Ph.D holders. Networking was taught by Mr. Prakash Sharma, Mrs. Nikita Gautam taught Digital Networking, VLSI was taught by Ms. Sulekha Khandal, Electronic Devices was taught by Mr. Pradeep Sankhla, and English by Mrs. Suman Sanghi. The method of teaching included Smartboards, PPTs, and Group Discussion. Moreover, e-notes were given to students by the faculty. The teachers posses good problem-solving abilities, they are skilled in conflict-dealing, clearing doubts, and handling other situations. The teacher student ratio was 1:5. I had good relations with all the faculty members; they were friendly and always guided me like a mentor. All were approachable; I knew that I could seek help from them in any situation whether personal or professional.

Placement Cell is present at PIET Jaipur and they communicate the placement opportunities through mails. There are no additional placement activities or programs conducted at the Institute. TCS, Infosys, Celebal Technologies, Mahindra, Sony, etc. are the core companies who visit every year for hiring. The minimum package is 3 LPA and highest goes upto 15 LPA. However, I did not get placed.

There are several hostels in the campus & some of these are Gayatri Girls' Hostel Aravali Boys' Hostel, Gurushikhar Boys' Hostel, Gargi Girls'Hostel, and Himalaya Boys' Hostel. Moreover, the mess's food quality & hygiene is well-maintained.

The Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology Jaipur campus is beautiful and has several blocks. The campus is located at an industrial area and is spread across 10 acres of land. There are approximately 10 classrooms including Laborateries having capacity of 50 students in each class at each floor and each block has 3-4 floors. There is also a Canteen and a Sports Ground. Moreover, a Security Guard is always there to monitor the campus. Public transports are easily accessible from the Institute. My favorite place at the campus was the Library because they had a huge collection books and being an avid reader, and I was always there if not in the class. They have designed the campus using naturally sourced materials giving it a natural and authentic look just like its name. They have used wooden designs alongside bricks wall. This is something which shows their creativity and sustainability.

My overall experience at the Institute was decent. It provides a fun campus life, good placement opportunities, and excellent infrastructure. The crowd was good; most of them were from good family backgrounds and some of them were trying to build a good lifestyle. There were several Clubs for drama, aerospace (Udan), open-mic, poetry, writing, social-media creation, etc. however, I wasn't a part of any of them. There were annual fests organised just for the hostellers. I had a positive experience and developed a new perspective towards life and various situations. The only things I did not like were the strict attendance and administrative policies.
