PGGC Chandigarh is Affiliated to Panjab University

PGGC Chandigarh is located in sector 11. It is a good College for those who have scored moderately well in Class 12. This Institution offers an environment where students not just learn through academics but also through different events like sports events and various inter department competitions. Overall, they provide a holistic development of an individual. The College is affiliated to Panjab University.

I chose B.Com after my 12 Standard from this College because I wanted to study about Commerce related subjects deeply. The curriculum is based on semester system where exams are held two times in a year that is December and May. Apart from this, class test and assignments are also conducted on a regularly basis. So overall, this degree enables a student to acquire practical knowledge to meet real world challenges.

The semester wise fee for my course was about Rs. 10,000/- per semester, excluding some minor additional charges. There was a one time registration and counselling fees. The College also offers financial aid and fee concession to students who belong to reserved categories in their own terms.

The faculty teaching us were quite knowledgeable and helpful. The teachers were mostly Ph.D holders and were well informed about their respective subjects. Every one of them had distinct teaching methods, which included the use of blackboards, smart boards, presentations, and class discussion. The faculty concentrated on understanding of the concepts instead of memorisation. The professors also kept us all engaged in the class and made sure that everyone is participating in the class. The student-to-teacher ratio was optimal which provides us with personalised attention. Overall, they were quite approachable in terms of academic doubt as well as personal queries.

PGGC Chandigarh had moderate placement. Students with good communication skills and knowledge in their domain were able to pass interviews. The package can go from 2.5 LPA to 4 LPA. I personally did not opt for placement as I had to continue my post graduation.

This College offers good residential facilities with separate accommodation for boys and girls. The quality of mess food was good and sanitation was also taken care of. The cost of the hostel was approximately Rs. 6000/- to Rs. 7000/- per semester. The wardens were very helpful and any grievances were solved immediately.

The PGGC Chandigarh is well located in a tranquil and green environment. The campus has separate buildings for different department of studies, which are very neatly organised. The classrooms are big and have basic audio-visual aids. The Institution also has provisions for library, seminar halls, an auditorium, labs and also a big playground. It also provides facilities such as canteen, medical clinic, and hostels. Some of my favourite areas in the College were the playground and canteen where I enjoyed time with my friends.

Overall, my campus life was very good and enjoyable. The College crowd was well diverse, friendly, supportive and came from various different backgrounds. Several clubs are now active in the Institution and I was a part of NCC during my first few weeks here which was helpful in developing discipline and other qualities in me, Various extracurricular activities regarding sports meet, annual function, inter departmental competition and small fests were also organised here. In conclusion, my experience was good and I was provided with several memorable moments to me.
