Discovering Life Beyond Academics: My Journey at ZGC Kozhikode

Overall Rating
My 2 years in Zamorins Guruvayurappan College always stand out in my life. This is the College which taught me how to live, how to socialize, and I learnt that College is not just about studying but about laughing, crying and a lot of emotions. Whenever someone mentions about their College, I suddenly remember my College, which has a history of around 150 years, which is one the oldest Colleges in India. Also, it is affiliated to University of Calicut
 

Academics Rating
I have taken in M.Sc Physics. As I was completed my B.Sc Physics under Calicut University, I opted to continue my further studies from this College. The College provides very talented group of professors in department of Physics. I was selected to this College through Single Window Admission system. The departments conduct a series of internal examinations, prior to external semester exams. Moreover, a wide elaborated practical lab facility is also there. through the internal exams and seminars conducted by teachers, students will be well equipped to face external exams.
As, I was admitted through Single Window Merit system, I just wanted to pay only exam fee and year wise fee to the College since it is an aided College . At the time of admission, I had to pay a caution deposit fee to the College, which we will get back at the completion of the course. Exam fee is below Rs. 500/- for odd semester and under Rs. 1000/- for even semester, since it has practical exams also. Moreover, they provide much scholarship for financially backward students and for toppers.
 

Faculty Rating
The department is well equipped with a group of brilliant capable teachers who have done their research and published papers in the corresponding area. All are eligible in NET exams and qualified as assistant professors. They use both PPTs and blackboards for teaching and make use of Google classrooms and meets to conduct online seminars and work shop. We can build an emotional connection with the faculties. As my class has only 12 students, teacher to student ratio is 1:2.
 

Placement Rating
There is a Placement Cell working in ZGC Kozhikode that has currently focused on last year degree students and last year Postgraduate students. Many big and well-established companies come to our College to recruit students based on their skills and experience. There were companies who came with 5 LPA in the placement drives.
 

Hostel Rating
College has well equipped with hostel for girls. There are nearly 4 hostels for girls within the campus itself, which provides food and accommodation facilities. Hostel timings are from 6 PM to 8 PM. In addition, the fee is reasonable.
 

Infrastructure Rating
College is developed under 96 acres of land. The College is situated in the top hills of the Calicut city, so that the overall view of the city can be viewed from the College. As I already mentioned the College was built by late Zamorins Raja of the Malabar so it has a history of 150+ years. Overall College gives a royal building vibes. College has good facilities canteen, big sports ground, medical facility, etc. The College is secured under the governance of good security team.
 

Campus Rating
Whenever I think about this College, it purely gives a heavenly vibes. Because since it is a forest area, we get a cool and nature vibe in the College. College crowd is always energetic and chaotic so that we feel like a College movie vibes. In addition, College has both NCC and NSS Units. Union conducts many programs in campus. Overall, I define this College as my heaven.

    The Zammorins Guruvayoorappan College is situated in Pokkunu Calicut. It’s spread in around 900+acres. Its one of the beautiful campus on a hilltop with calm and peace. Eco-friendly campus. It is heaven on hill. When you entered the college you entered another world. ZGC college has a good ambience.
