Overall Rating
It is one of the best Engineering Institutes in India. It has pretty good campus life, top-notch infrastructure, excellent Placements, decent peer group, and great exposure. If your priority is exposure and good campus life along with good placements, NIT Rourkela can be great choice. Approximately 80% of the students are placed with median around 15 LPA. Highest CTC is 62 LPA. Campus is spread across huge land and has lush greenery & fantastic infrastructure with well-equipped labs and classrooms.

Academics Rating
I am pursuing B.Tech in Food Process Engineering. For admission in this program, you need to crack JEE Main with good percentile and then take part in JoSAA, CSAB, or DASA counselling sessions. In addition, international students can come through SII and ICCR programs. Exams in Institute happen twice a semester (mid-sem and end-sem). Academics are well designed as per evolving technology.
Fee is approximately Rs. 10,00,000/- to Rs. 12,00,000/- for 4 years. There is two-third tuition fee waiver for General and OBC category students with family income between Rs. 1,00,000/- to Rs. and Rs. 5,00,000/-. There is a complete tuition fee waiver for SC, ST, and PwD students having annual income below Rs. 1,00,000/-. Many scholarships are available for students as well.

Faculty Rating
Faculty members here are well qualified with everyone having Ph.D degrees. Most of them having Post-Doctoral research experience. Some professors have secured their Ph.D degrees from International Universities. Teachers have options to teach via boards and projectors both. Teachers are very well qualified and have excellent problem solving skills. Teacher to student ratio is decent with B.Tech classes having strength of 30 to 100 students depending upon subjects. Most faculty members are good approachable.

Placement Rating
There is a dedicated Placement Cell in the Institute. It is very active, they train students for placement and internship, and placement drive is well conducted. Almost all the major companies visit for recruitment drives. Last year, highest package offered was 62 LPA and average was around 15 LPA.

Hostel Rating
It is mandatory to stay in hostel. Students get 2-seater rooms. Mess food quality is decent. Hostel fee per semester is Rs. 5000/-. Hostel rules are pretty chill and curfew timings for 1st year students starts from 9:30 PM. I had pretty good experience in hostels.

Infrastructure Rating
Campus is spread across 650 acres and surrounded by hills & have excellent greenery. Campus has dedicated buildings for departments, 2 lecture hall complexes, a central library, an indoor stadium, a cricket and a football stadium, a kho-kho ground, etc. Classrooms have capacity ranging from 50 to 250 students. All of them are equipped with ACs. There are auditoriums with good seating facilities. There are canteens in academic area and dedicated canteens for all hostels. There is a dispensary and security guards are everywhere where necessary. Lush green campus has to be my favorite part of Institute.

Campus Rating
Campus life is excellent as National Institute of Technology Rourkela has good infrastructure, fests. People here come from all over India. Extracurricular activities are fantastic. Famous singers & other influential people are invited during events and fests.

NIT Rourkela has a very old campus as it is about 50 years old but still the infrastructure is so good.
