Thiruvalluvar University [TU], Vellore Tamil Nadu was established in the year 2002 as State University Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Engineering, Management and Humanities. Since 2002, Thiruvalluvar University has been providing adequate resources and facilities for the advancement of research and knowledge dissemination along with focus on the upliftment of economic and social aspects of the city. It is approved by the UGC and accredited by NAAC with “B+” Grade. It is also a member of the AIU.

Applicants can find the Application Form on the official website of Thiruvalluvar University where they can apply for admission in different courses offered here. To pursue UG courses, applicants must have passed 12th from an institute as equivalent to the Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Whereas, to study PG courses they have to qualify for a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree program from a recognised University. Applicants must obtain an Eligibility Certificate of qualifying exam from the University and deposit it at the time of taking admission in a particular course.

To develop the personalities of students and to make them globally competent, the university has a Placement Cell that hosts campus recruitment drives to offer students jobs in different sectors. Internship opportunities are also provided where students can get practical exposure to upgrade their skills. Counselling sessions regarding higher studies and placement opportunities are also conducted within the campus for students. The sprawling campus of Thiruvalluvar University is spread across an area of approximately 112+ acres at Serkadu, Vinnampalli, Tamil Nadu. The campus comprises of multiple infrastructural facilities to support effective and smooth teaching-learning procedures. The major facilities of the university are:
Library: The Central Library of the university has approximately 2 floors and covers an area of around 10526 sq. ft. It can provide a seating capacity for 100+ students. The different sections of the university are the Circulation Section, Reference Section, Thesis / Dissertation Section, Book Stock Section, and E-Resources Access Section. The book collection is around 11,500+ which includes volumes of all the disciplines. It has also subscribed to 2290+ e-journals.
Other Facilities: Smart Classrooms, Seminar Hall, Auditorium, Hostels, a Canteen, a Post Office, a Bank, Sports, etc.

Thiruvalluvar University got establishment in the year 2002 under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002. The act was passed by the Tamil Nadu Government on 16th October 2002 to establish the institute with the motive to empower the society with high education. Currently, the University is in Vellore Fort which is a fort in Vellore Town. The overall circumference of the fort is around 2600 meters.
The Thiruvalluvar University was once the Post Graduation Extension Center, Madras University, which operated at the fort campus, Vellore. The University has got its name from the greatest Tamil poets Thiruvalluvar.

The University offers postgraduate (coursework) as well as Ph.D. (research coursework) in the field of chemistry, biotechnology, economics, English, mathematics, zoology, and Tamil. The courses that Thiruvalluvar Institute of Distance Education (TIDE) offers are a computer application, science commerce, business administration, and arts. The University and its affiliated colleges, conduct semester/non-semester examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate degree students. Apart from the academics and research sections, this township offers central as well as other facilities.
Thiruvalluvar University was brought into existence by the Tamil Nadu Government at Vellore. The University got inaugurated on 16th October 2002 by the respected Chief Minister Selvi Dr. J. Jayalalithaa. The University campus covers a large area of 113 acres in Serkkadu which is close to Vallimalai. In India, there is a requirement of such an educational institution that can fulfill the need of the community belonging to the different region. The University was formed keeping in mind the requirement of the people.
