Bharathiar University, a State University has built its campus with modern and state-of-the-art facilities for the students to utilise in order to develop holistically.

Inside the Bharathiar University campus, there are multiple classrooms out of which some are available with traditional facilities and some with ICT amenities like LCD projectors, amplifiers, wall speakers, etc. to conduct an effective teaching learning process.
At the Bharathiar University Coimbatore campus, ‘Thanthai Periyar Auditorium’, ‘Dr. Usha K Mehta Auditorium’, and others are present with adequate facilities. The University’s campus also has a number of board rooms / conference halls with digital amenities.
The University consists of several seminar halls with their seating capacity ranging from 50 to 200 students. Moreover, some are named ‘P. Nachimuthu Seminar Hall’ and ‘Sir C.V. Raman Hall’ and have air-conditioning and multimedia amenities like LCD projectors, sound systems, etc.
Convention centres like ‘Dr. Usha Kirtilal Mehra Convention Centre’, ‘Bharathiar Alumni Convention Centre’, and others are available inside the University’s campus. Along with this, multipurpose halls, convention halls, and other such spaces are available to conduct cultural activities, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and other activities throughout the year.
In addition to this, the campus includes multiple other amenities for the convenience of the students and it includes xerox facilities, studios, stationery shop, swimming pool, animal house, guest house, electrical power backup, etc.
The description of the Bharathiar University campus facilities are stated below:
- Library: An ‘Arignar Anna Central Library’ is developed on an area of around 11,230 square feets. It houses an extensive range of resources such as 1,90,000+ text & reference books, 1,24,500+ titles, 9000+ back volumes, 100+ National journals, 40+ International journals, and others. Digital resources can also be accessed by the students via the e-library and it includes around 2700 e-books, 7000+ e-journals, and others.
At the central library, about 330 students can be seated at once. Also, the library has several sections & services like photocopying acquisition, technical, circulation, periodical, reprographic, etc. For facilitating easy access of subject-wise resources to the students, the University consists of departmental libraries.
- Laboratories: Inside the Bharathiar University campus, a Common Computing Centre spread across an area of around 3200 square feet and several Computer Labs across the departments have been set up to cater to the computing requirements of the students. Also, language labs and audio-video recording labs are there.
Alongside, the University has more than 130 PG & Research Laboratories which are equipped with tools & instruments like Powder-XRD, Single Crystal-XRD, Confocal Microscope, and others.
- Sports: To keep the students both physically and mentally fit, the campus offers indoor and outdoor games facilities. Within the premises, a multipurpose International standard Indoor Stadium with adequate facilities are available for the students to engage in indoor games activities.
Beside this, an outdoor stadium with 400m track, Hockey Field, Football Field, Cricket Ground, Tennis Court, Kabaddi Court, Handball Court, Volleyball Court, etc. are present inside the campus.
- Hostel: In total, around 11 Bharathiar University Hostels are available which include 5 each for men & women and 1 for International students. Some of the hostels are ‘Kasthuribai Hostel’, ‘Kannammal Hostel’, ‘Elango Hostel’, and ‘Thiruvalluvar Hostel’. These hostels can accommodate more than 2100 students in total.
The University’s hostel offers fully furnished rooms in multiple occupancies, around the clock security, playgrounds, study room, and other amenities. Dining halls are also available where students are served quality and wholesome meals.
- Canteen: To provide vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals to the students, the University has a canteen with spacious dining halls. Also, the campus has an open food court and ‘AAVIN Milk Parlour’ which serves a number of food & beverages to the students at nominal rates.
- Transportation: To commute students from the campus, the University owns multiple buses and cars. Additionally, it is ensured that all the buses are well maintained for the safety purposes.
- Healthcare Facilities: To provide medical care to the students, a Health Centre or University Hospital is present within the Bharathiar University campus. A medical professional is available to take care of the students. Also, around the clock ambulance services can be availed for transferring students from the campus to the hospitals in emergencies.
- Fitness Centre: Students can exercise in the fitness centre available at the Bharathiar University campus. Also, a separate fitness centre for female students is available.
Along with this, the University has set up a Yoga Centre with the Indoor Stadium for the students.
- Banking: Within the University’s premises, a branch of Nationalised Bank that is ‘Bank of India’ is available. The campus also includes ATMs of different banks and a post office.
