SBIHM provides training and placements to the students based on their skills and interests. To give students greater options, the institute maintains a highly well-organized placement cell. The institute received ECONS Education and Summit and Award in 2016 for researchers and scholars by Confederation of Education Excellence. GHRDC presented Certificate of Achievement to the SBIHM for coming 5th in the Education Excellence category, 2nd in State of West Bengal, and 1st in the category of infrastructure in the state of West Bengal. ABP news had presented the National Education Award 2016 to the hotel management institute for being the best infrastructure in hotel management.
