IIM Calcutta Fees Structure & Courses 2026

The college academic sessions made me isolated for 2 long years. The classes lasted some 10 hours and after coming back to the hostels we had to bring the study material so that we can stay with the syllabus. The syllabus is so vast that completing in a semester is demanding. The college professors were easy going but little do they know that as a student it is impossible to clear all the subjects in one go. The college has made sure that the MBA course which duration has to be completed in 2 years can at max has to be completed by 3 years. One unheard thing about IIMs is that nearly 5-10 percent students fail to clear the exams and have to leave the college without degrees in their hand.

The pointers system has been introduced in the IIMs since long and paved the way for other institutes. Coming from IITs, it was easier to crack the CAT but studying finance was beyond me. The college took extra care of the students coming from science backgrounds as finance was initially beyond me. The course MBA is of two years and we are provided a leverage of clearing all the credits in 3 years because if cracking CAT was tough, the syllabus in IIMs is even tougher. The college makes sure that they send finished products to the industry and therefore everything is in line from making us understand the industry requirements to get adapted in the working culture. The group studies were encouraged at the IIMs and that is how it all worked at the IIM-K.
