The Koshys College of Nursing’s (KCN) year of establishment is 2003. The KCN is a private, co-educational Nursing college. The KCN’s sponsor is the Koshys Educational Trust that has a base in India’s Karnataka’s capital city, Bangalore.
The KCN comes under the Koshys Group of Institutions (KGI) that is based at Bangalore. Apart from KCN, the KGI is inclusive of the Koshys College of Management Studies. In fact, the KGI offers both Management and Nursing Education. These initiatives are in line with their quest for producing proficient management and healthcare professionals.
Since the year 2013, the KGI has been operating; also, the Group has been setting new benchmarks in all spheres of education. Indeed, KCI covers all aspects of education: Corporate Training, Industry Collaborations, Placement activities, Academics, and Interactive Sessions.
At KCN, there are courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Nursing. The undergraduate programs are inclusive of the Bachelor in Nursing (B.Sc. in Nursing), Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (PBB.Sc. in Nursing), and General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) ones. Among the postgraduate courses, the College offers the Masters in Nursing (M.Sc. in Nursing) one.
The College’s 3 parent hospitals accommodate 300 beds. The KCN has affiliation with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). Besides, the College has the recognition of the Indian Nursing Council and Karnataka Nursing Council.
As part of the vision of College’s founder, Mr. C. Koshy, the KCN was constituted. His commitment to serve society’s developmental needs through education was the driving force to establish KCN. In fact, as he had envisioned, the Center structures the Nursing curriculum as per the healthcare needs of the people.
Under Nursing Education, at the start, the College was offering General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) programs. Then, later on, for upgrading the diploma nursing pupils, the KCN commenced undergraduate courses; these include the B.Sc Nursing and PBB.Sc in Nursing ones. Thereafter, in the year 2010, to cater to the higher education needs of the Nursing students, the College started the M.Sc. in nursing courses.
KCN adopts a holistic approach towards educating the students while focusing on research. Also, the Center promotes literary arts, music, and sports for providing a nurturing platform in the pursuit of academic excellence. In turn, the pupils receive training to meet the various challenges of the healthcare industry.

In line with the College’s commitment to enhancing the learning experience of the students, the Koshys College of Nursing library is well-equipped. Here, the pupils can access a large number of books, periodicals, project reports, and journals, for their academic pursuits. Thus, the College Library is referred to as the Information Center.
In fact, there are more than 2,00,000 volumes and 18,000 journals (including both National and International ones) at the College Library. The journals cover several disciplines of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. Among the International journals, there are ones such as ACM Transaction, Harvard Business Review, Software Engineering Notes, and Harvard Management Update.
Additionally, at the Library, there are various educational resources, with the inclusion of audio-visual aids. There is the Library’s audio-visual section that boasts of an array of tapes (both audio and video ones) and CR-ROMs.
Further, the Library has E-Journals and E-Library; also, the operations are automatic and computer-based. The College conforms to the dictum ‘Books are for use and not for preservation’. Therefore, the College follows the Open Access System.
With the student community consisting of both National and International pupils, there is a culturally-rich atmosphere on campus. In other words, the College serves a melting point where people representing different cultures meet on their journey of graduating into professional nurses.
As per the Koshys College of Nursing admission procedure, there are several ways of applying for the College’s courses. The candidates have the option to collect the Application form from the College office; and then, submitting the same after filling in the required details. Also, they can download the Application form or apply online via the College’s official website.
An important aspect of training the budding healthcare professionals is imparting practical knowledge. By doing so, the students can get a better understanding of the Nursing-based theoretical concepts. Thus, the KCN staff members have provisions for giving practical training to develop the students’ skills.

The KCN, also, offers health insurance to the tune of Rs 50,000 to the students. If hospitalized, the insured groups get reimbursement after making claims.
