IIT Patna B.Tech Fees Structure 2026 & Admission Process

I have enrolled in the CSE dual degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) course. The first year at IIT is common for all the branches. For first year you have to study common subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Science, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Workshop, and Communicative Engineering. All these subjects lay the foundation for upcoming syllabus in further years and are divided into two semesters. From second year, the syllabus gets specific for particular branches. There is also an option for branch change after first year if you score well in first year. In CSE branch, we have a whole department dedicated to it which also includes students from Data Science in Artificial Intelligence. We have well established computer labs and libraries. Furthermore, the boom of AI and Computers has made me choose this course.

Academically IIT Patna is very sound with interactive and creative professors and TAs, some of them are gems in their fields, also there are almost 20 of them who are among top 2% of the world's scientists list, which make them even profound. There is a tutorial block where we are being taught the subjects with the help if tutorials.

I always had an interest in the world of technology in computers, so obviously when the opportunity to study CSE in an IIT popped up, I took it with both hands. Our courses are to the point and designed while keeping in mind the relevant skills in today's tech world. The only drawback is that after all these years of revolution in education we still got to study all the common subjects in our 1st year of B.Tech. There are two exams in each semester with frequent quizzes in between.
