NEET PG 2026: Exam Date (30 Aug), Admit Card (27 Aug), Eligibility, Syllabus, and More

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the notification for the NEET PG exam 2026 on 1st July 2026. The NEET PG 2026 exam date is scheduled for 30th August 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
The NEET PG registration 2026  has started from 1st July 2026 (5:00 PM onwards). Interested & eligible candidates can visit the official website i.e., ‘natboard.edu.in’ and apply for the same before the last date which is 21st July 2026 (till 11:55 PM).

The conducting body i.e., NBEMS has laid down some major changes in the paper pattern of the entrance exam. The question paper of the NEET PG 2026 will comprise 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) instead of 200 while the total duration will remain the same i.e., 3 hours and 30 minutes. Thus, the total marks of the entrance test will be 720 marks.

Moreover, the NEET PG question paper 2026 will be divided into 5 time-bound sections namely, Group A, B, C, D, and E. Here, students will have to answer 36 MCQs in each of the sections within 42 minutes. Upon the completion of each section, the subsequent section will automatically load. Candidates will not be permitted to return to previous sections to review or modify their answers.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - PG (NEET PG) is an online computer-based test (CBT) that is conducted on the National level. The exam is held in a single session for the duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

NEET PG exam 2026 will be conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). NEET PG examination is held for admissions to courses such as MD, MS, PG Diploma, Post MBBS DNB, Direct 6-year DrNB, and NBEMS Diploma. It is a MCQ-based entrance test that is held only in English medium / language.

Note: If a candidate gets involved in any unfair activity / misconduct, he / she will be liable to be penalised by the exam authorities. The penalty can be in the form of cancellation of the exam / expulsion of the student up to next 14 attempts or 7 years / cancellation of candidature.

The NEET PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria is as per the National Medical Commission (NMC). In order to be eligible for appearing in NEET PG 2026 exam, the aspiring candidates must possess an MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate recognised by NMC, along with a provisional / permanent registration certificate of MBBS provided by NMC. Moreover, the aspirants must have completed / about to complete a 1-year Internship prior to the cut-off date specified by the authorities.

It is to be noted that there is no upper age limit for appearing in the entrance test. OCI and Foreign Nationals along with Indian students and NRIs can also appear in the NEET PG 2026 exam if they fulfill all the eligibility conditions.

Candidates who are aspiring to take admission in MD / MS / PG Diploma / Post MBBS DNB / Direct 6-year DrNB or NBEMS Diploma course are required to register for NEET PG. The registrations for NEET PG 2026 will commence soon. It is required for the aspirants to complete NEET PG 2026 Registration before the last date.

The registration for NEET PG exam 2026 can be done only in online mode through its official website i.e., “natboard.edu.in”. Candidates must verify the eligibility criteria before registering for the exam. Students must note that the correction window will be open in 2 phases such as an Edit Window, and a Selective Edit Window.Through these, candidates will be allowed to make corrections in selective aspects of the previously submitted online application form.

The NEET PG 2026 syllabus will be prepared by the conducting body (NBEMS). It will be releasing the syllabus on its official website i.e., “natboard.edu.in soon. As per the official authorities of the exam, the syllabus will be designed according to the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the erstwhile Medical Council of India.

NEET PG 2026 is an Online CBT - Computer-Based Test, conducted only in English language. The exam is conducted for a duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. The question paper will have 5 time-bound sections namely, Group A, B, C, D, and E. In each of these sections, 36 MCQs will be asked.

As per NEET PG 2026 Exam Pattern, the question paper will consist of 180 MCQs of total 720 marks. The candidate will be awarded with 4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. There will be no negative marking for un-attempted questions.

NEET PG 2026 Admit Card will be released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Registered candidates will be able to download the admit card from the official website of NBEMS. Aspirants will be notified about the availability of their admit card through email or SMS. It is to be noted that the admit card will not be sent by email or post.

The admit card of the candidates will contain essential information such as location of the exam centre allotted to them, time slot, items that are permitted in the test center, etc.

* If any candidate has submitted more than 1 online application form for NEET PG 2026, then NBEMS (the conducting body) will issue the admit card only to the one with a higher order of application number and will cancel the other application(s) without any refund of fee.

Exam Centres are the locations where the NBEMS i.e., the test conducting body conducts the entrance exam. During the application process, candidates are required to opt for any 3 NEET PG 2026 Exam Centres (States) as per their preferred choice. However, out of these 3 options, the 1st opted State should be compulsorily the one that the candidate has provided as their correspondence address in the application form. The aspiring candidates must ensure that they prepare well for the examination in order to obtain good marks and secure admission in any of the participating Institutes / Universities. Some tips that can aid in effective NEET PG 2026 Preparation are as follows:

• Candidates must have gone through the exam pattern and syllabus for gaining insights about the subjects and topics on the basis of which questions will be covered in the NEET PG 2026 exam. Also, they must be aware about all the updates regarding the examination.
• Students should create a realistic study schedule, ensuring that sufficient time is given to each subject, so that no topic is left untouched.
• Aspirants are advised to prepare the short and basic topics first for strengthening the basic concepts and gaining confidence to study the remaining material.
• Candidates should regularly make notes of the important topics for easy and quick revision.
• For effective practise, aspiring candidates should frequently solve the previous year question papers. They should also take mock tests on a regular basis for evaluating the progress and for more clarity about the difficulty level of the question paper.

NBEMS i.e., the exam conducting body, has laid several guidelines that are mandatory to be followed by the candidates on the day of examination; some of these are as follows:

• Candidates have to bring the admit card at the test center along with an affixed recent passport size photograph which should be as per the guidelines set by the conducting body.
• Candidates are required to bring several documents at the test centre such as Printed copy of the QR Coded or Bar-Coded Admit Card, PAN Card / Driving License / Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar Card, and Photocopy of Provisional or Permanent MCI / SMC / NMC Registration.
  * Candidates with e-Aadhaar card can be permitted to enter the test centre on the basis of decision of the conducting body. 
• Other applicable certificates need to be carried to the test center if required, such as the PwD certificate for specially abled students, and others applicable in case of foreign nationals.
• Aspirants must report at the test centre at least 2 hours before the commencement time of the exam; it is to be noted that the exam centre will get closed before half an hour of the test time.
• Candidates are not allowed to carry certain items to the exam premises such as notes, textual material, calculator, pen, pencil, eraser, mobile, earphones, bluetooth, wrist watch, ornaments (bracelet, ring, earring, chain, etc.), wallet, cap, and more.

Note: OCI / Indian Citizens who have acquired the primary medical qualification outside India and qualified Foreign Medical Graduate Examination are required to bring the original FMGE passing certificate that is issued on the letterhead of NBEMS. Foreign Nationals are also required to carry their passport to the test centre.

Aspiring candidates who seek admission in specified PG medical courses through NEET PG 2026 are advised to solve the previous year question papers on a frequent basis, during their test preparation phase. Solving the NEET PG Previous Year Question Papers will help the students to assess their strong & weak areas.

Practising with the sample papers also aids the students in getting familiar with the type of questions that can be included in the question paper. Additionally, it will also help in identifying the important topics which should not be missed out by the students.

The demo test for NEET PG 2026 will be made available to the applicants by the conducting body on its official website almost 15 days before the stipulated exam date. Through this, students can get familiar with the format of the entrance examination.

Aspiring candidates can appear in the mock test for evaluating their performance and preparations for the examination. Taking a demo test will also help the candidates in increasing the speed of answering the questions for better performance in the exam.

NBEMS, the conducting body of NEET PG 2026 exam will not be releasing any content of the answer key due to some confidential reasons. The students can check the answer key released by the participating institutes (if any). The answer key consists of correct answers for all the questions that are asked in the exam paper. So, it is useful for the candidates as it helps them analyse how well they have performed in the exam.

As per the past year analysis, the NEET PG 2026 Result will be made available for the students on the official website of the conducting body i.e., “natboard.edu.in”. The result of NEET PG is valid only for the current admission session (2026-2027) and it cannot be carried forward to the further sessions.

Prior to result declaration, the candidates can challenge any question for technical errors with supportive literature within only 2 days of the examination date. The result of NEET PG 2026 will include crucial information like the roll number, subject-wise scores, total marks, All India Rank (AIR), etc. Candidates must download and take a print out of the result for future reference.

* It is to be noted that requests for re-evaluation or re-checking of the answers will not be entertained after the declaration of result in any case.

The NEET PG 2026 cut-off will provide an overview of the minimum score required to qualify the entrance exam in order to get admission in PG medical courses through the rank achieved in the test.

NEET PG 2026 Cut Off is as per the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 notified by the NMC. The specified cut-off criteria for different categories which needs to be fulfilled by the candidates to pass the NEET PG 2026 exam is mentioned below:

The counselling for NEET PG 2026 will be held by the Medical Council Committee (MCC) of DGHS, Government of India. The registrations for NEET PG 2026 Counselling will need to be done by the qualified students as per the details they have filled in the application form of NEET PG 2026 exam. Details such as mobile number, email address, etc. in the registration form of counseling are required to be the same as details filled in the application form for the exam.

There are certain documents required to be submitted at the time of counseling such as Rotating Resident Internship Completion Certificate, Documentary Proof of Registration with NMC, and other applicable documents. After the counselling process, MCC will release the NEET PG 2026 Seat Allotment results once the candidates list their preference of the course / Institute for admission.

It is to be noted by the students that MCC of DGHS conducts counselling on the below-mentioned quota / seats in the participating Institutions:

• 50% seats of All India Quota
• 100% seats of Central / Deemed Universities
• 100% All India Open DNB Seats

* Candidates who will qualify NEET PG 2026 exam as per the prescribed cut-off criteria but are not eligible for counseling on 50% seats of All India Quota will be selected for counseling on State Quota Seats.

NEET PG 2026 is a National level exam that allows the qualifying candidates to take admission in MD, MS, PG Diploma, Post MBBS DNB, Post MBBS DNB, Direct 6-year DrNB, and NBEMS Diploma courses offered by various participating Institutes / Universities across India.

If in case, 2 or more candidates secure same marks in the NEET PG 2026 exam, the tie-breaking criteria (specified by the exam authorities) mentioned below in the sequence will be applicable:

• The student who will have less number of wrong answers in the overall paper will be ranked higher in the merit list.
• If the tie still persists, the student who has a lesser number of negative / wrong answers in the Section A of the exam will be offered a better merit position (NEET PG Rank).
• Further, to break the tie, the ones with less negative responses in Section B of the exam paper will be positioned higher.
• If the tie between students continues then those who have less number of incorrect answers in Section C of the question paper will be prioritised while preparing the merit list.
• After this, if the tie still remains unbroken then, the applicants who have less number of wrong responses in the Section D of the test paper will be awarded the higher rank.
• To further break the tie, students with less number of negative responses in the Section E of the exam paper will be granted a merit position in the merit list on priority basis.
• At last, if the tie still has not been resolved, the student who has obtained high aggregate marks in all of his / her MBBS professional exams will get a better merit position in the NEET PG exam 2026. In case of an Indian citizen / OCI students who have completed their primary medical qualification from outside the Nation (India), the percentage of FMG exam marks will be considered, instead of aggregate marks of MBBS professional exam.
• At last, the authorities give preference to the candidate with higher age (who is older) to resolve the tie.
