Vivek College of Commerce B.Com Review By Sukesh Suvarna

Vivek College of Commerce is a reputed institution in Goregaon, Mumbai and has been known for its excellent faculty since years. In 2018-19, the college received 11 awards, and has been recognized as one of the best institutions in town. It was established by the Vivek Education Society which is a charitable institution in the year 1976. The admission process is simplified and it mostly digital and easy. The college management is excellent and we have experienced faculties on board. It provides an environment full of confidence and positivity to the new students, including junior college students. I was confused regarding which college to apply after my 10th standard, and several acquaintances suggested me Vivek College of Commerce. No doubt it has good reputation because of the high-standard practices.

I joined B.Com course as I had completed my 12th standard in Commerce stream. I selected this course because I found that there are several job opportunities after graduation in Commerce. The course subjects were good as we studied Accounts, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Economics, Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology and many others. Subjects such as English was also in the syllabus and it helped to seek an overview of English grammar as well. We were given a chance to select the subjects in the beginning of the year and I did it very well. The teachers also guided as throughout the selection process as per our preferences.

The faculties in Vivek College of Commerce are highly experienced, well-qualified and trained in the subjects they teach. I never found any issue with the faculties as all are simply brilliant. We were never bullied and were always treated with love and affection by the faculties. The faculties always guided us with exam tips and solved our doubts whenever we approached them. They never refused us from explaining to us about a particular concept. The faculties have minimum 10 years of experience in the college while some have more than 20 years of experience. But they have not been tired out of teaching the students, and that’s the best thing about them. We have more than 40 faculties in Vivek College and the institution is in search of a talented workforce.

I am proud to say the Vivek College of Commerce has a Career and Placement Cell in the institution itself. Students have been taking advantage of this facility and even I was one of them. Since more than five years, this cell also issues a systematic report of the students getting jobs out of this placement cell. I am sure we can several new and positive changes in the Placement Cell as the college strives to provide each student with a lucrative and fulfilling job. The faculties also guide the students in attending interviews. I am happy to say that many students have got a job offering salary of more than Rs. 2.5 lacs p.a. through the Placement cell. I request you to check the reports once.

Vivek College of Commerce does not have a hostel of its own. But I don’t think that is a problem. I lived in the vicinity of the college and never faced any problem relating to accommodation. But I had many friends who were outstation students and had to search a place to stay near the college. As per their experiences, they never experienced any problem in finding a hostel or a PG in Mumbai is a big city, and you can find plenty of well-equipped students’ hostels and PG accommodations without any trouble. The charges are reasonable, they have attached tiffin services, and the atmosphere is friendly. My friends never experienced any issues with the hostels and so anyone can try it out.

Affiliated to the University of Mumbai and recognized as per UGC, Vivek College of Commerce has excellent infrastructure. Every year, the college seems to be developing in all ways. The library is vast and has thousands of books. The library utilizes internet technology to help students access the books easily. It has fixed timings and the environment is calm and peaceful. I have spent several hours in studying the course and I loved it. Apart from library, the college has a small playground where sports activities are conducted regularly. The building is huge and accommodates hundreds of students at a time. I never faced any problem with the infrastructure as the college is clean and well-maintained. The housekeeping staff aims and works hard to keep the college premises neat and tidy.

I must say that the campus life is great as the college conducts lot of special activities. These are out of the course syllabus but they provide us a valuable platform to grow our personality. The college conducts academics-related competitions such as essay writing, elocution, quiz competition and others to boost our knowledge-related skills. Also, the college conducts dance competitions, dance and music events, singing competitions, annual gatherings, acting workshops to boost our extra-curricular skills. We are not just told to study 24 hours of the day but are encouraged to participate in all kinds of activities. I have gained a lot of self-esteem and confidence due to these activities. I find comfortable while attending interviews and working at an office.
