This is one of the best government autonomous institutes in Kolkata for students who want to pursue B.Tech in ceramic technology. It also has other two departments for information technology and computer science with world class facilities and alumnus throughout the whole world. It is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology and comes with great infrastructure and curriculum. The campus is big and contains efficient class rooms and laboratories for the students. It was founded in 1941 and is accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. The college management is great and responds to all the problems of the students promoting a good and friendly atmosphere for the students inside the college.

I had joined the course that included B.Tech in Information Technology in the year 2014. The eligibility includes a decent score in the higher secondary examination with science as major subject. The candidate must compulsorily have to qualify the West Bengal Joint Examination to apply for admission in this college. The main reason to join this course is that the fee structure is very less as compared to the private colleges. In turn you will receive great support from the college and the faculty to get a job in the future. Also, this course will help to get an understanding of the real time corporate world with the help of excellent faculty and infrastructure.

There were 6 faculties for Information Technology during my time. Most of them were experienced in the field of teaching and few of them had work experience in the corporate world. They were very efficient enough to help us with our subjects and made us understand the subjects in the most practical way. They also helped us to get a thorough knowledge of the subject matter with the help of materials provided by the college. The faculty is friendly and will always be there to clear your doubts and problems. They have really taught us well without which it would have been difficult to get a job after completing the course from this college.

The training and the placement cell have been emerging over the years. The top companies that visit here for placements are Wipro, TCS, Accenture and start ups in the field of information technology and computer science. For ceramic technology, the companies that come here for recruitment are Vedanta, Ashapura Chemicals, St. Gobain Glass, TRL Krosaki, etc. They offer descent packages to the students where the ceramic department gets the highest package offered. The alumni group is huge and is settled in different parts of the world who really help the students in the process of training and placement. Over the years, the percentage of students getting placed have been increasing with the ceramic technology department students getting 100% placed every year.

There is a hostel facility for boys that come with spacious rooms and good amenities for a hygienic living. The bathrooms are well maintained and cleaned daily. The hostel is highly secured and the gates are closed on time. There is a provision for high speed internet connectivity for the students residing there. The hostel gets water supply from time to time and the food prepared is safe and tasty both for vegetarians and non vegetarians. The hostel also has a separate room with good medical facilities for those who are sick or have met with any accident.

The lush green campus consists of two main play grounds and two big buildings for the academic sessions. The entrance road of the campus is lined with trees and upon entering you will find a big playground. The laboratories are situated besides the main building. There is a separate computer center for the computer science and information technology students studying in the college. The classrooms are spacious and airy for the students to accommodate. All the laboratories have been updated with the latest tools and features for the students to learn more efficiently. The college also has a canteen that offers fresh and warm food daily for the students.

The overall campus life is something the students like about the college. There are various clubs and activities that allow greater participation from the students. They rotary club and other activities club have been functioning efficiently over a long time. The cultural club helps to organize various events during special occasions in the college. "Jagriti", the main fest of the college attracts students from other colleges to join the various events in our college that consists of face painting, fashion show, dancing and singing competition and much more. Not only that this college provides exciting rewards and prizes for the participants during the fest.
