Sigma Institute of Engineering B.Tech Review By Shailesh Vasava

SIGMA is located in the outskirts of Vadodara city and is known for taking as many students who approaches them. I was among those fools who even after getting some other colleges chose this as the college building was new and the campus was enticing. I have fallen a prey but it’s my request to stay away from the college. First of all, the college has no criteria because some of the students in my class were the ones who passed their SSC exams at the age of 20. They enrolled for the Diploma and then after passing Diploma in 4 to 5 years joined the B. E. course directly in the second year. Hence, there are no rules and regulations in place. The classes I don’t know why they have kept strict when the other things have nothing do with the rules.

The classrooms are great and so is the admin building. The block is so clean and the atmosphere surrounding is so great that you will have a penchant for learning immediately. Once you enter the classroom the good vibes are all thrown out as you will see students dancing on the benches, flying paper planes and keep shouting for at least 10 minutes from the time the teacher arrives. The professor had to plead to please stop. After all this drama the classes starts and a class which has to be of 45 minutes is cut short before time. Means 10 minutes are wasted at the start and then teachers give away 10 minutes to make some more noise. This is how great the academics at Sigma College is.

Gujarat is one of the most developed states in India. Please if one believes that they should come to Sigma once. The faculty of the engineering loves talking in Gujarati and explain the syllabus in Gujarati as well. Most of the students are regional and therefore is all ok. The qualification of the teachers what shown to us was something which can’t be digested. Our Thermodynamics teacher told us she has done M.Tech from IIT, Kharagpur. If this is true I will shave off my head and run a mile. She doesn't know the basic concepts and try avoiding the portions she didn’t knew deliberately. This is the quality of faculty members at Sigma.

The college has this skill of identifying some 10% students who they know don’t need college services as they are brilliant and will study on their own. The companies visiting are given those students name and they call them out. They all come happy with an offer letter and rest other celebrates their job offers. The college put hoardings of 20-30 companies and 8-10 do come and take some 8-10 students from the departments they need. Forget all the figures that are mentioned on college site as they are not in real.

Students from Vapi to Bhavnagar, all come to be a part of this great institution. To take complete care of them the college has built one of the nicest hostels. There are 3 boys’ hostel buildings and 2 girl’s hostel buildings. The capacity of boy’s hostel is 400 and that of girls hostel is 300. The hostel rooms are full and are given on priority basis. The college is located in Bakrol which is some 10kms from the Vadodara city and staying in a city will only increase travel time. The college has bus facility and goes to almost all the areas of the city. The hostel has a mess that serves breakfast, lunches, and dinners.

The college campus is huge and has all the facilities. From safety point of view the college is highly secured. The college amphitheater is huge and many live classes are being conducted there. The campus has a high speed net connectivity. There are many student hang out areas in the campus. The college has a gym, arts, music, and dance rooms. The college campus also has a cafeteria, shops, and a food court. There are many sections in the campus that has converted into seating capacity and that way one will never be short of places at the campus. The sports are being taken seriously and thus the college has built nice indoor sports utility center and also has a ground that is used for playing football and cricket. The college guest house is like some Villa of Udaipur as it is built upon water. The number of trees at the campus can’t be counted as they are in abundance. The infrastructure of the college is where the fees of the students go into because the college doesn't care in hiring the best teachers and putting a system in place.

Below average students in real life are engineers in Gujarat today and all thanks to colleges like Sigma. If you are rich and can push yourself only during the exams, you will walk out with a degree in hand. Since the classes were compulsory I had to attend them and after that there so much in the campus that at the end of the day we were short of time. The college hosts events, yoga week, and cultural week every year. If the education part of the institute is sorted the college will become one of the finest institutes in India.
