The Standard Fireworks Rajaratnam College for Women B.A Review By Yoga Laxmi

I was from the batch 2013-2015 and it has been 6 years since I've passed from this college. The first few days were really fun. There were no classes and lectures. We had a two-day session called ice-breaking session where we introduce ourselves, play some games and make new friends. Sometimes our seniors would take us around the campus (even though it's not that big). It was such a great opportunity to connect with the seniors and know more about the college. After a couple of months, Talent Show was held for freshers. It is not a competition though but is a great opportunity to exhibit our talents. I remember shivering behind the stage before my dance performance. Overall it was such a wonderful experience.

Academics are not a fun part of student's life. But in SFRC, I feel academics are not a big deal to worry about. Of course, there will be projects, seminars, assignments but it is not that hectic. We have three internals for one semester and two semesters for a year. Apart from studies, I have been able to complete a diploma course which adds to your resume. We also had Job Oriented Courses in our final year of study and trust me it is very helpful when you don't know what to do in life. It helps us to stand on our own feet.

All the faculties were easy going, friendly but it would be great if they were interactive and had some exposure. I won't say all of them but some were lacking exposure. Law classes will be handled by a lawyer, GST and some of the professional accounting courses will be handled by auditors and I feel that's a really good initiative from the college. I gained so much knowledge from them and it motivated us to become a lawyer or an auditor like them. Overall I was satisfied with the faculties.

There are three hostels in our college. Each room is occupied by three members. Food is provided thrice a day and snacks in the evening. Even though phones are not allowed, hostel students were the happiest ones. Only then I realized you don't need any fancy ways of entertainment when you have friends by your side.

Our campus is huge with all the necessary facilities. It has a big playground, an indoor stadium and a cute little gym (it's free for sports students) inside it. It also has a big auditorium, a sufficient number of labs, and adequate water facilities all over the campus. And how can I forget the library! Our college has a huge library with tons of books, magazines, journals to read. It was once a go-to place for me. There is a sick room, restroom, and a Xerox shop inside the campus that does the needful. The campus is very well maintained and I often see many technicians and sweepers cleaning and maintaining the campus.

The overall journey was good. I won't say it was the best but it gave me everything that's needed. From knowledge to experience it taught me everything. The only thing that was missing was proficiency in English. The college should take some serious actions regarding this. It is one of the best places to learn and unlearn things because most of the time we are either free or hanging out with friends. All the college events, industrial visits, and competitions helped me in facing the real world. I mean no harm and wrote genuinely what I felt about the college.
