CMS College of Science and Commerce M.Sc Review By K. Akash

I'm an M.Sc IT pursuing student of CMS College of Arts and Science located in Coimbatore. It's located at the heart of the city and is at a peaceful environment. The experience we gain from the college is immense and extraordinary. If you’re looking for a college which is both good at academics and cultural, this Institute would be a perfect fit. The main focus of the Institute is to pool out the various ethnic people and we give equal opportunity to the students who come from other countries to pursue their higher education. The institute is well maintained and the management here is very much approachable, if we find any difficulties in the college the staffs as well as the management is always ready to hear their issues. Mostly the issues are sorted then and there. The extraordinary management of the college has helped it to remain as one of the reputed college in Coimbatore.

So basically I opted for Bachelors in IT as there was high demand of workers in the IT sector. I joined the department with lot of expectations and each and every wish of mine was fulfilled. We were often taken to labs to get a practical training with the softwares. The academics were not only based on the books or syllabus, whereas it was complete practical experience which would help in the future when I join a company. So the entry requirements as basically you need to have completed your 12th class and it don’t matter whether you belong from a computer background or not, even a commerce student can opt for CS or IT is they have interest on that particular scheme. Several other programs are conducted in the department which will serve as a learning tool for lot of students.

The faculties are just like our family. They are very much specialised in their own field. They have vast knowledge about the subjects as well as give us life lessons which are very important for the future. Mostly the digital boards are used for classes for making the process easy and convenient. But there are days where we have normal classes where we discuss about the general information. The staffs are always ready to exchange their knowledge to us and we get appreciated for our good works. They have always been a support system for me and they make sure that every student is able to complete their college without any backlogs or difficulties.

The placements are good in our college. Most of the MNCs and other core companies visit our institute to recruit candidates. Mostly there are bulks of Students who get placed in these companies which has a higher package of salaries. There is a Placement Cell in our college which helps to students to connect with the companies and it really helps the students to acquire jobs in various sectors.

So I am a resident in Ooty hence there was a need for me to live in the college hostel. I was staying at the hostel for 3 years and the experience there was just amazing. The seniors in the hostel were very much friendly and they used to treat us like their own brother and sisters. The hostel food was good but not that delicious yet it was good compared to other hostels. I got a 4 members room in my first year with my friends. That hostel life has bought me a lot of things in life. It has helped me in making lot of memories which I'll definitely cherish for my whole life.

Basically the entrance of the college is itself very huge and the college is covered with a bulk of beautiful trees which makes it very peaceful. The tress really adds to the beauty of the college. The college is painted green and it actually makes a difference that students usually feel very fresh with that kind of campus. There are almost 3 blocks in our college which consists of all the departments and there is an auditorium for conducting cultural events. College ground is present and this helps the students who are looking forward in making their career in sports. The college has a gym, a beautiful library which has all sorts of books which is useful for research and studies. There is canteen where everybody’s bind started. That is the place where we made new friends where we had food and enjoyed our college life.

There are various clubs in our college such as NSS, NCC, photography club, eco club, etc. NSS and NCC students are often taken to the camps and there are credit points provided to the students based on their co curricular activities. Functions and fests are conducted on timely basis to motivate and provide an entertaining atmosphere to the students. Onam function is celebrated in a very dynamic manner and Pongal function is also conducted. Students often have flash mobs in the college which makes others very refreshing and happy. The main motive of the college is not only studies but is a combination of happiness studies life career and good behaviour and pleasant environment.
