GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management MBA Review By Rajkumar Singh

G L Bajaj is a disciplined and strict college. Daily 9-5 classes which were compulsory was too much of an ask on some days. The colleges used to conduct seminars and workshops almost every week and they were organized after the college hours. There were days when I reached home around 10pm and next day again I can’t be late for exams. GLBians hardly enjoy the campus life at least MBA students hardly as even if they get relaxation from classes then the assignment things would still be left. I am still amused as why GL Bajaj College is not ranked among top B-schools. The college is quite popular and I wish I joined the college a year earlier as none other than my favorite stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt came and promoted their film at the campus. Not just them but our hall has been used by various news channels for interviews and that also gave us an opportunity to be a part of it.

Academics were more or less job training as we couldn’t move for 8-10 hours as back to back classes was the theme of the college. The college provided all the best resources from syllabus to faculty but I wish they were little less strict with the timings. The internals and prelims which were a school thing are a routine at G L Bajaj. I am talking only about MBA course as rest other courses I don’t know because the college is well-known for its engineering courses and tech fests and all were a part of their curriculum, I suppose.

Some fresh legs and some experienced ones. The college had a mixture of both and that was nice to say. The new teachers had their way of teaching and the total number of faculty for MBA was 10. They were helpful and highly knowledgeable and not just the books but taught was beyond that as well. The faculty members were serious when it came to studies and we were allowed to skip some classes but if we didn’t scored well, we had to pay the price for it.

G L Bajaj is superb when it comes to placements. The fresher level package was within line of top B-schools. Before the placements a proper training segment was conducted and made sure we all are ready to crack the interviews and impress the recruiters. The placement cell worked day in and out and if you don’t get selected through campus then count yourself unlucky or that luck was not on your side that day. The average package was around Rs. 7-8 LPA and the highest was Rs. 20 LPA. Not just the local but companies from Chennai and Bangalore were also a part of the campus interview. Nearly 100 companies visited the campus and must say that placements were impressive as all the faces were happy.

The college has 2 hostel buildings, one for boys and one for girls. Since I put up in Noida, I couldn’t apply for the hostel and also the seats at hostel are limited given the number of students from different places come to the college. Every flat or hostel has a spacious room with a balcony. The rooms for MBA students were given on twin sharing while engineering student had the option of sharing a 3-seater room. The rooms were furnished and were also well-maintained. The rooms were furnished and had a TV installed in each rooms. Many other college students also envied that as TV at hostel was something new. The 24 hours security is available and bio-metrics were used to get inside the hostel building. The guests were not allowed beyond a certain point as the hostel building has a visitor’s room.

All the lectures that are conducted are recorded and if you fail to attend a lecture, you can take the video of that lecture from a studio called lecture capturing studio. This was an innovative idea and G L Bajaj must be given recognition for having something like this. As all other facilities are common but this was new not just for me but all as none of the students had this facility at their campus. The campus has installed solar panels for water harvesting. The garden of the campus is well-maintained and lush green. The auditorium was huge with a seating capacity of 400+. There was also an air-conditioned conference room beside the auditorium. We just had access to computer labs but in the same building there were 10-12 technical labs as well. The library is huge and has a study room as well. The tables at the library were comfortable and were accessible even after the college hours. Again in sports everyone has a playground and indoor sports but at G L Bajaj there was a futsal court as well. Most of the indoor stadiums had seating as well and evenings were mostly spent on these sports centers.

Morning to evening in the classes and then at Amatra (Gym). I used to play sports as well and competing with the students of other streams was fun. Loved the way the college has been built as it is laced with almost all the facilities that one would fascinated in their dreams.
