MCM DAV College B.Sc Review By Richa Thakur

Established in the year 1975, the MCM DAV College Kangra has uplifted the higher education of the Kangra district and nearby districts as many of my classmates were from Chamba, Mandi, and Una. So, in terms of providing education to the backward areas our college has been always an icon. Our college Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College is among a chain of schools and colleges of Dayanand Anglo Vedic that has a great name in excelling the educating in the country. I got admission here for my graduation in science. The three years of my experience in this college has to remain an amalgam of best days and some unforgettable memories of educational trips and science projects. Being a medical student, my maximum time spends in the science labs and which was pretty fun and knowledgeable. The only thing that somewhat less likable by me about this college was that the building was comparatively older.

As I have done my graduation from this college. I must say that it's best for the science studies either its B.Sc or M.Sc. The best part I like about my graduation years is that the college’s environment and overall focus is on providing the best education to the students that in return render excellent results for our college. During my academic years, many of the students got their names in the merit list of universities in respective to the different streams. Along with arts, science, and commerce, there are also computer streams with a limited number of seats.

The faculty of our college is the plus point. Well qualified teachers are gems for what students look for. The maximum faculty members of our college experience for more than a decade and the new faculty being appointed for the master’s level of the students is UGC NET qualified. I must say that DAV College Kangra has a legacy for providing the best faculty to the students. In my academic years, I had the best faculty and even a maximum of my teachers was on a verge of retirement. Overall, when someone is planning to get admission to the DAV college Kangra, he/she must be ensured about being taught by the best qualified as well as experienced teachers.

As far I know the DAV College is only promising in providing quality education to its students while providing the placement is not as much consideration. In my academic session, I never got to hear about the placement stuff being provided by the college. I am even not sure about the placement cell availability in the college itself. After doing graduation as well as post-graduation, the students have to look for jobs by themselves and even fight for the competitive exams all by themselves. Yet, the faculty members are helpful to show the students the right path to shape their careers.

It's been a great time being in the lower girl’s hostel for the three wonderful years as I was in the lower girls hostel among the two. The upper hostel for girls is quite away from the college campus while the lower girls hostel is just beside the college campus. It's airy, it's well managed, and has everything. I was quite lucky to be with the best girls as my roommates and rest became the history. The food is just okay. I never had any luscious expectations from the mess either. But the time spends with the friends was great.

It’s an old college and quite leveraged campus. Our college is divided into several blocks. But in particular, there is an old block and the new block. But the college is in a progressive phase in terms of its infrastructure. The new buildings are being renovated as well as the new infrastructure is being accumulated so that the new courses can run comfortably. The science labs are in their best condition and what I loved most about this college is the spacious labs for the experiments. As being science student, my maximum time spends in the science labs. The cafeteria and campus basket ground is also well versed but I never had any interest in sports. But for sports interested students its better.

Just like all other DAV colleges around the country, the campus life of DAV College Kangra is fun and happening as well as disciplined. There remain activities and inter-college competitions around the year that keep students entertained and improves their overall college experience. There is a garden, cafeteria, and spacious campus for the student to chit-chat and enjoy their time with friends when they are free from the classes. The annual function is the ultimate fun element and students may seen engaged in doing the sports activities on daily basis. I personally felt so good to be on the college campus and the best memories of college that I have belong to the college campus itself.
