From self-finance institutes of Gujarat, GCET Vidyanagar is the best. The mechanical branch out of which is the one which has less seats in comparison to other colleges and the one that gets filled the first. GCETians today are working in top companies of UK, US, and Germany. GH Patel College of Engineering has been awarded the best engineering college of West Zone and rightly so as the college has that element that others don’t. The college hardly does ads which otherwise self-finance colleges do. The college didn’t only teach us the syllabus but also made us learn about all the latest technologies that are invented in the world. The current trends were the main area of focus along with what future holds. The college has cut across generations as the alumni base of the college is great and during one of those meets many ex-students shared their experience and how the college had helped them reach the top. Choice is yours but the awareness that you will gain at GH Patel College of Engineering and Technology is what you will not see in any other colleges of Gujarat at least.

Every damn thing that we were taught in class had the practical application at the lab the next day. This is how the studies was done and mechanical being one of the most volatile branch we were always asked to bring something new or ask questions. The college didn’t have a planned syllabus but every new invention or adaption is it anywhere across the globe was discussed about. The faculty were brilliant as they gave us confidence and were always on charge. The college has no non-sense toleration in terms of attendance and if any how you fail to turn-up for 3-4 days on a trot without informing it would be a huge blow for your chances of staying in the college.

There is something special about the faculty members. All vastly experienced and main was our dean as he was young and was always motivating students at personal level. The projects were a major part and the faculty helped us out in each endeavors of ours. They were not just restricted to classrooms but were always available on personal demands. There is a connect in why the college has produced such amazing students, it’s the faculty’s blood and sweat which has gone in making.

Not just the established names but many start-ups too join the placement community. The placement cell or community has reservations for choices made by students and industrial visits and training sessions at the college made it rather easy to show the skill-set during the placement round. Among all the other colleges in Gujarat, GCET has its own way of placement like one student can appear for as many interviews and can keep his/her options open. The average placement was Rs. 4-5 Lakhs and some multinationals even offered thrice the average placement to the ones who deserved. For BE the placement of this quality and numbers was a huge takeaway of GCET.

There were in all 6-7 blocks of boys and girls hostel. The rooms were outfitted and had proper ventilation. Each and every wing had their own mess and study rooms. There were also gaming facilities at the hostel and inter-wing competitions were held every year. The hostel room had 2 people sharing the same room. The bathrooms were attached and had 2 separate pair of everything like bed, cupboard and study table. There was a checking at the hostel gate and no outsiders can enter the building. Each block had a common TV room and that too was operated timely. No loud music or any toxicity was allowed at the hostel. The campus gate was closed at 10pm and that was the deadline for us to reach the campus.

GCET is little old and therefore buildings are no more a treat to the eyes. However, the labs are updated with latest instruments every now and then. The GCET library is one of the grandest I have seen as I have been to many colleges but such a huge library is nowhere to be found. From clothing to grooming everything was available just outside the campus and we hardly had to travel far for our daily needs. The campus has 3-4 gardens and a sports ground that is always lively as students presence was found there always. The 2 cafeterias were kind enough to provide us tea, coffee and other food items till late night. The auditorium was packed during annual day and other events.

Everyone seems so motivated at the campus and there were a lot of clubs around to be around. The Garba Sandhya, IMAZE which is an annual fest were all done with a lot of heart by the students. Not just that the college also organizes Bhajan Sandhya at least twice a year and none of this was a compulsion. The college never forced anyone but it were the amazing students who volunteered themselves for every single event that the college hosted. GCET is one college where students, faculties, and management go hand in hand and all are on same terms as no one is discriminated. The student start-up innovation which started during our time has started getting funds from various investors and all these things are the ones that makes GCET special.
