by Prashant Parmar
Subodh College has an excellent journey from its beginning like re-accreditation with A++ grade by NAAC-UGC. The state government called it a model college of the state. When I took admission to this college a new phase of my life was started, in this journey of my college life I met many people who changed my life or who changed me for good. I am very proud to say that I was part of this college. All the teachers and staff were very supportive and helpful.
I joined this college in the year 2017 and I opt for B.Sc (PCM) admissions are done based on merit, if you have a good percentage in your 12th class then you don’t have to worry at all. You will be selected, but if you have less than 80% in your 10+2 and you are in a general category then it’s hard to get admission to this college. Other than the merit system there is no such entrance exam for admission. I wanted to complete my graduation from a better college so I chose this college, it will help me to boost my profile. And I chose B.Sc maths because I wanted to develop my problem-solving and reasoning skills. Now I think that it was a good decision to take this course. Yes, a BSc degree will help you to get a job as you can teach in educational institutes, you can work as a forensic crime researcher, etc.
There were around 2 teachers for every subject in my college, so at my time there were around 10-12 teachers for my course. And the total of 90-115 teachers was serving when I was studying in the college. All the mentors were experienced. They all had a minimum of three to four years of experience.
The training and placement cell molds students in such a way that they can meet with the industries recruitment process, they also motivate students to develop soft skills in terms of career planning. The cell runs career development programs for students in which they organize personality development, communication skills programs. They also conduct group discussion practice sessions, mock interview sessions. I used to see that HR managers from diverse fields were invited to conduct training programs for last year’s students. Companies like TATA, Wipro, IBM, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Genpact, Airtel, Concentrix, and many more are the majority recruiters. The average package offered in my college is 2-2.25 lakhs and the highest is about 4 lakhs. About 50 to 60 percent of students get placement calls every year.
In my college, there is no hostel facility available.
College is spread over an area of 10 acres of land in the middle of the city. The building is well designed. The college consists of smart classrooms, laboratories, conference hall, seminar hall, library, etc. There are 46 labs, 3 research labs, one open-air theatre, two well-equipped gymnasiums. Many students come from their vehicles so the college has huge underground parking. The college also has a ramp and elevators for Divyang students so that they don’t have to face problems. Our Library has three floors and is spread over an area of 5950sq.ft, and has a collection of 1,32,900 books. College also has an e-library. The college culture is very adaptable and calm which leads to an individual’s success. I found friends who are unforgettable and found myself, those were the memorable days of my life. Our institute also works with NGOs like rays in which we help people suffering from HIV-AIDS. A village named ‘Tankarda’ near Chomu is adopted by our college for social development and to promote organic farming. Our college has many clubs like science club, humanities club, commerce club, green club, red ribbon club, etc.
The college is situated in the heart of the pink city (Jaipur), near the very grand Sawai Mansingh Stadium (SMS).
